Poor Man's system for XP10, help me build it...

Recommended Posts

Efrain, just one comment on your system build.

It looks pretty solid for your purposes but did you notice the H61 board has no Sata 6GB ports?

If you could fit it in your budget you could bump up to a H77 board like this so you can take advantage of the full speed of that SSD

A B75 board could also be another option. It has 1 x Sata 6GB port as opposed to 2 on the H77

or if you like Asrock

Oh wow, I thought I had selected SATA III in the filters when searching! Yes, most definitely need that feature. I will go with the B75 board because I only need one SATA III port.

Thanks, Ant!

BTW, I've always been an ASUS mobo guy. So which one is better between the MSI and ASRock?

From some of the recent forum discussion I'm led to believe, with lots of clouds, XP10 can really bog down your hardware... I really don't know what kind of system would run it well. I think what you listed would do well if you keep the "sliders" at reasonable settings.

| FAA ZMP |
| PPL ASEL |
| Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 32GB 5600 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I'm not sure which would be better, they're the both at the same price point and both from reputable companies so I don't think it will matter much.

A also found this board for $63.00 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157335

There are a few differences between the 3 B75 boards, i.e audio chipset etc. MSI board also looks like overclocking may be an option, not sure though. Here's a link to the comparison of the 4 boards I've linked to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007627&IsNodeId=1&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&CompareItemList=280%7C13-130-654%5E13-130-654-TS%2C13-157-326%5E13-157-326-TS%2C13-157-335%5E13-157-335-TS%2C13-157-303%5E13-157-303-TS

I'm not sure how New Egg calculates their shipping on big orders (since I can't order from there being in Australia and all), but you may want to factor that in too.

The B75 boards if purchased alone would be about $67.00 with shipping, but the H77 board I linked for $69.99 said free shipping.
