FS Water and CTD with terrain.dll error

Featured Replies

Could anyone help?I bought FS Water from Flight1 and now when I go into settings to change anything, I get a terrain.dll error and CTD.Any help will be appreciated.RegardsT

TThis subject has been discussed several times in the past. I would recommend doing a search in this forum and review some of the solutions offered in the past. I think the best solution was to disable or remove a scenery until the culprit that caused the error msg is found. Did you try uninstalling FS Water and seeing if the sim starts up w/o the error? It could be another scenery OR a "bad" AFCAD. Based on my search using "terrain.dll", this is a common problem. Hope you get it figured out!Jim

Hi,I've just had the same problem.Do you by any chance install the cloud textures from Sim Aero Pilot 2004? I did a download from www.surclaro.com yesterday and install them. I didn't check it before this evening. And I got the problem.I discovered that if I put the water textures to low or none - I could load a flight again.I reinstalled FS water - thinking that this hopefully would overwrite the offending texture - and for me that did the trick.Have you tried to reinstall FS Water?I've been really happy with it - very nice sky, and the water texture over the Atlantic is really looking good - I like the large swells. :)Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi, "cloud textures from Sim Aero Pilot 2004? "The files was not related to water, it contains only cloud files, but probably corrupted format that's make ctd, anyways this files was default 100% 2004 clouds, not worth to download or use, and btw the files is gone and removed for ever from download violation of fsw copyright. FS water is not related to CTD, check other area.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Whao ChrisI did download the cloud textures but removed them right after the first flight because I didn't like them. It was only after I removed them that I installed FS Water and then the problems started. I'm back to my old water textures because I fly so little nowadays that it is simply not worth my while to go through all the swearing and cursing when I want an hour or two of fun.Looking forward to your textures. At the end, they will become the default of any installation. (Again!)Until thenKind regardsT

Chris,Thanks for correcting me on that. I didn't know that they were your textures. I'll remove them from my set-up right away.I might be my poor English - sorry - but I wasn't trying to imply that FS water was to blame, far form it. It just got my system back when I reinstalled them, so I was thinking something was being installed that shouldn

Hi,I had the same problem too.The Sim Aero Pilot 2004 cloud textures also include a OceanHeightField.bmp file. This file is the the source of your terrain.dll error.I haven't worked out what is wrong with this file yet but advise everyone not to install it.If you didn't create a back-up, you can get the original off your FS2004 CD.Murray

Those cloud textures are bad mojo... especially for anyone using FS Water. The Sim Aero textures bork the wonderful sky that is included in FS Water.Greg
