The rise of the X-Plane forum

Recommended Posts

Seasons can be implemented pretty easily once you have the texture base. If METARs are kept for the last 48 hours at 12 hour intervals (the sim could see 48 hours ago, 36 hours ago, 24 hours ago, 12 hours ago and now) and get an idea what the temperature has been like. If it's constantly been cold <30F render snow textures on the ground for the location in question...if it's been kind of cold 30F-40F, have partial snow textures on the ground (where it's been melting away slightly but grass can be seen in patches). Anything above 40F would be fall/summer/spring textures... The rendering engine would have to place the textures on the objects and mesh appropriate to the climate perceived.

Anything we want is doable with the right conceptualization and time. With such a small team of developers and asset creators, time is the limiting factor.
