737NGX and Strobe/Baecon Lights Configuration

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out where the PMDG 737NGX reads the Strobe & Beacon lights configuration from.

it is obviously it is not using the aircraft.cfg file as they have no reference to those lights in them, but yet there are strobe and beacon lights on the aircraft.

Original NGX aircraft.cfg file:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin
light.0 = 4, 47.000, 0.0, 5.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight
light.1 = 4, 45.500, 0.0, 4.500, fx_PMDG_NGX_vclight

I am trying to change those (tweak) to work with the Shockwave 3D lights Redux without success.

no matter what I try placing in the aircraft.cfg file, the PMDG ignores them completely and refuses to load them.

It only loads the NGX default/original Strobe/Beacon lights, no matter what I set in the aircraft.cfg file

Example:

light.7 = 2, -27.5, -57.3, 7.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_2 // left wing strobe light.
light.8 = 2, -27.5, 57.3, 7.00, fx_shockwave_strobe_l_3 // right wing strobe light.
light.9 = 1, 6.00, 0.50, 9.80, fx_shockwave_beacon_fastflash_lowl // top beacon light
light.10 = 1, -8.00, 0.00, -2.20, fx_shockwave_beacon_fastflash_lowl // bottom beacon light

The TAXI/Landing lights on the other hand are working fine (3D Lights Redux), it is only the Strobe/Beacon lights that are ignored.

Example:

light.2 = 5, 5.50, -8.35, 0.20, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon // left wing landing light
light.3 = 5, 5.50, 8.35, 0.20, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon // right wing landing light
light.4 = 6, 42.6, 0.00, -5.85, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short // taxi light which is attached to the wheel
light.5 = 5, 6.70, 3.40, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_no_flare // bottom right landing light
light.6 = 5, 6.70, -3.40, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_no_flare //bottom left landing light

So my question is where does the NGX reads those settings from if not from the aircraft.cfg file?

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem. i have Shockwave 3D lights Redux Installed on my computer. it's weird, I noticed that when I load the default B738 (the strobe lights of the default B738 works perfect) and than i load the 737-800NGX (without to quit from the flight - it means --> "select another aircraft") the strobe lights effect of the Shockwave 3D lights Redux still working perfect on the 737-800NGX. but if i start a new flight and load the 737-800NGX first (without to load the default B738 before the 737-800NGX) the strobe lights effect of the Shockwave 3D lights Redux doesn't working and than i can see only the default strobe lights that comes with the 737-800NGX, It's driving me crazy!!!

I'm trying to solve this problem for a long time without success. even I read in some forums but have not found an answer.

I tried all kinds of ways but i can't figure it out, how PMDG config the strobe/Beacon Light of their 737NGX.

If someone has an idea/advice and can help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

If I am not mistaken the lights can not be altered because they complied them into the model file.

then how this dude managed to do it?

Caribbean Airline takes off and land on RWN 10 at St. Maarten Int. (TNCM).

Realistic Beacon Lights Created from Shockwave 3D Lights Redux's Textures.

I have always wanted Real Beacon Lights for Flight Simulator X and now I have them. If you want to see real strobe and Beacon lights, go to BlueStar167's channel.

Here is the CFG Lines.

[LIGHTS]

//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10=cabin

light.2 = 5, 5.50, -8.35, 0.20, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon // left wing landing light

light.3 = 5, 5.50, 8.35, 0.20, fx_shockwave_landing_light_small_xenon // right wing landing light

light.4 = 6, 42.6, 0.00, -5.85, fx_shockwave_landing_light_short // taxi light which are attached to the wheel (no need to edit panel.cfg)

light.5 = 5, 6.70, 3.40, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_no_flare // bottom right landing light

light.6 = 5, 6.70, -3.40, -3.80, fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow_no_flare //bottom left landing light

light.7 = 1, 6.00, 0.50, 9.80, fx_shockwave_beacon_fastflash_lowl // top beacon light

light.8 = 1, -8.00, 0.00, -2.20, fx_shockwave_beacon_fastflash_lowl // bottom beacon light

light.9 = 2, -27.5, -57.3, 7.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe // left wing strobe light if needed. (not very realistic on the ground)

light.10 = 2, -27.5, 57.3, 7.00, Fx_shockwave_strobe // right wing strobe light if needed. (not very realistic on the ground)

light.11 = 3, -72.0, -0.00, 7.50, fx_shockwave_navwhi_l // large navigation light near the apu

A couple things to note.

1) These lights are only valid for pmdg 737-800 winglet model without a satcom antenna. Only The 4 landing lights can be used on 737-800 without winglets.

2) Wing strobes light sits in the center of the winglets due to wing flex. However, they appears in their correct position after the plane is in the air.

3) The Beacon lights were created from a Shockwave redux Strobe light cfg file. If you like real beacons then all you have to do is open up a strobe light cfg file and replace the color settings to a beacon cfg file settings. (its too long to explain in details)

  • 1 year later...

if you look closesly you see that his lights is in the middle of the winglet (?) not following the wing. the strobes are hard coded noting to do...
