February 4, 201313 yr The B-737 Gatwick-Amsterdam tutorial explains the flap retraction ( for a normal flap 5 takeoff ) as follows: Passing the "1" marker on the PFD speed tape, select flaps up.What confuses me is that there is another marker "UP" at 200 knots. Does this mean that at the marker "1" flaps to be retracted to position 1 and at marker "UP" to position 0 ? See attached screen shot. NB: I like to do things right Thanks Hubert Werni Herbert Werni
February 4, 201313 yr You have it correct. At "1" you go to flaps 1 and at "UP" you can retract them completely. The flap markings on the PFD denote the minimum safe speed for each flap setting I believe. Paul Wood
February 4, 201313 yr Please refer to the Flap Retraction Schedule on page 3.34 of the FCTM. For a Flaps 5 Takeoff, Flaps 1 is selected at V2+15 and Flaps UP is selected upon reaching the "1" speed on the PFD speed tape. The "UP" marks the Flaps Up maneuvering speed. Jerry "Wiley" Post KORF
