Screen flickering and blinking

Featured Replies

I think this is a redundant post but I can't seem to find the post I originally looked at.. but.. Ohwelll

I am doing Tutorial #1(737NGX). As soon as I try to do anything after the cockpit appears the screen starts "flickering & blinking". I don't know how else to describe it. No actual CTD but very annoying. Any help please?

In FSX.cfg (located in x:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX), add the following lines (open with notepad app):

[bufferPools]

PoolSize=8388608

RejectThreshold=262144

See ya!

make sure the fsx cfg is not set to read only if it is uncheck it otherwise you wont be able to change anything in it.

Once you have checked this scroll down and it should be the last section hopefully, [bufferpools] it will be in brackets, once you have found it just use your mouse left button and click at the end of the numbers and use back space to delete the existing numbers, than type in the numbers given in the above post. than click save or if you dont and exit it will ask you if you want to save or not say yes.

before you make any changes to your fsx.cfg, its always a good idea to make a back up copy of it and place it in another folder where you can retrieve it. If some thing goes wrong with your changing anything in it etc

If it not there you can add it your self in the fsx.cfg by placing the bufferpools in brackets like the other headings you see in the list eg

[bUFFERPOOLS]

UsePools=0

PoolSize=0

Thanks folks, that corrected my problem with flickering. I still have the Sim Pausing alot That may be another issue.

BTW There was no BufferPool section so I just added the three lines ( as suggested) to the bottom. I did add the numerical values rather then "0". I guess that was correct because the flickering has ceased. Also, after I saved the cfg file I noticed another FSX.cfg.taxt file was added.

Thanks again
