Following the tutorial for the J41.

After connecting the external power, and rotating the Knob to BATT, there is not voltage reading.

With the BATT off, you're not going to have any reading. With the external power connected, you should see something come up when you select GND or EXT PWR. I can't remember what the actual text is by the selector.

It's all in the, ahem, manual. :cool:

 

The tutorial asks you to check battery and GPU voltage before switching on the batteries or the GPU. You should be able to read the source voltage before connecting them to the electrical system. It's a bit confusing as the tutorial reads as if you should have accomplished step f (batteries and ground power on) but then that is done on the next page.
