I currently have the Level of Detail Radius (LDR) set to Small. Is there a way to set the LDR to where it will not show up?

Try experimenting with the LOD_RADIUS setting under [TERRAIN] in FSX.cfg. The FSX default maximum value is 4.5, though I do not know what the default minimum value is—perhaps 2.5?
