February 15, 201313 yr Um... you can do all of that in X-Plane 10. I'm not sure what you're getting at.
February 15, 201313 yr Author Do we really have that... - Acceptable ground physics (see the x-wind takeoffs video), or even better - try it yourself with different aircraft... - Very acceptable MP - Weather effects / rendering... (not only METAR data being fetched and injected into the sim... and including very interesting algorithms for thermal and ridge lift generation, clouds that move with the wind at various speeds / directions depending on their alt, etc...) - Credible AI, not killing your FPS... - Proper time of day lighting, Moon phase, Sun effects, etc... Not to mention that Autogen is growing better, TerraSync is a great feature, you have slopped / bumpy rws, seasonal textures/effects, etc... This being said, I'm not saying FG replaces XP10, but rather that there are features / qualities of this Open Source (free) platform I'd like to have in the payware XP10.... February 15, 201313 yr If you say so. FlightGear's biggest problem is that it simply lacks the polish and ease of use of a commercial product. But it's free, so I'm not complaining. I've been looking forward to the 2.10 release.
February 15, 201313 yr Author My main objective is that, being it OpenGL-based, cross-platform, etc, just as X-Plane is, maybe some lessons could be learned from the FG project..... I love the lighting effects, the Sun reflection on the sea surface, scatering effects, etc... I also like the weather effects, World coverage and an opefully growing community of good scenery and aircraft designers. Of course, just like with any other simulator, a good aircraft model depends strongly on the existence of good sources of aero-data.... February 19, 201313 yr And indeed, i've just look at the website. Some serious feature being had since last time i've look at ot. I was never appealed to it. But now it's becoming mature
