March 2, 201313 yr As everyone knows, FSX has a real world weather setting that allows two options. The first is to download a static version of the real world weather at the time the flight is started; the second option, is similar to the first but instead it downloads the real world weather data every 15 minutes from Microsoft's servers. I was wondering, how FSX handles the change in weather when the 15 minute weather update setting is turned on. Does the changed weather pop? Does a fast transition? or does a gradual transition to the updated weather. Also, does the 15 minute updating of weather settings slow down FSX in terms of FPS during flight? March 3, 201313 yr I believe FSX default real-world weather does change rapidly. I have experienced sudden precipitation, pressure, and wind changes, but do not know whether they can be attributed to the weather updates. I fly commercial aircraft, so while the updates probably affect performance slightly, they usually occur during cruise, when performance is better and smoothness is not absolutely crucial.
March 25, 201313 yr There is a setting in fsx options that will dictate the rate of change .... Also, especially lately the accuracy of the weather has been terrible.. I would suggest free software like FSrealwx if you do not want to pay for programs like active sky ... Just my 2 cents .... Ron
