Stratus clouds at lower altitude on a cloudy day

Featured Replies

Hi all, I started testing AS2012 after a very long time I had it, but never got the chance installing it as I was using REXE both for weather and Textures (free Upgrade from REX2).

any way I ran many tests on AS2012 mainly on overcast airports and cloudy days to see how it works out.

I have noticed that AS has the tendency to place Stratus clouds at very low altitudes on a cloudy day and hardly any Cirrus clouds.

that is not really realistic as Stratus clouds are more seen at higher altitudes.

do you know how can I force AS to use Cirrus clouds at lower altitudes and/or change the behavior of how it injects Stratus clouds?

the looks to artificial to me with AS2012.

Both REXE and OpusFSX (Demo version) give me the right rain/Cirrus clouds at lower altitudes on a cloudy day.

NOTE: I use the same cloud textures for all three, hence it is not the textures issue but the Weather engine.

I am testing it on AS2012 w/SP2 B6
