March 9, 201313 yr Last February, one of Aeroflot's SSJ-100 aborted take off after having one of its engines failed, Sheremtyevo, Moscow. Sukhoi blamed Aeroflot for lacking of maintanance.. thats smart, but the world is getting smarter... Few days ago, another SSJ-100 forced to return after having its landing gear failed to retract, forcing the pilot did 'RTB' from Shremtyevo to doh.. Sheremetyevo. The flight was intended to Grizhny. no one was hurt, except sukhoi.. Despite the not so happy occurrences, Sky Aviation Indonesia hasnt changed their mind, in fact, the first of 12 was delivered last February 27th. Aannnnddd..... SSJ 100 LR (Long Range) is being tested, expecting certification in 2014. Suggestion: why not fixing the basic first before releasing an 'expansion pack'?? SSJ-100 was built together with Boeing Co. It also uses FBW philosophy.
March 9, 201313 yr Dash-8-Q400's had collapsing gear and reliablity problems, still a big seller. 787 the delays and problems then the battery issue, still a huge order list. 737 rudder reversal, worlds most popular jet. ATR's blown engines all the time and still very popular Nearly every aircraft is going to have it's problems. Chris Miller
March 9, 201313 yr 787 the delays and problems then the battery issue, still a huge order list. Are you sure bout that? Would they have inked a lot of orders if they had known it would be grounded. Garuda cancelled its 787 orders and turned to 777, it's because the delay of the production, and that was long before the overheat issue. The battery issue that takes forever to solve is no way to be compared with retract/extend gear failure. It's been almost two months and operators seem to be annoyed. Above all, Fair enough Chris, that's the fact, indeed. Although, we all are aware of the fact that every aircraft has their own issues, the highlights mentioned above occurred in less than a month.

ATR's blown engines all the time and still very popular Nearly every aircraft is going to have it's problems. The above are single system issues as is the case for the 787. What is going on with the Sukhoi is more than that. Different systems and areas of the plane are involved with the SSJ-100 Series. AviationWeek has a few articles concerning the aircraft that Sukhoi is trying to build and market. Seeing that Sukhoi's main customer isn't buying their products in mass today, it's trying it's hand at airliners. Perhaps it might be best to stick to what they know. Tactical military aircraft. Airliners are a very different animal from a military aircraft. Difficult to change ones mindset from military builds to commercial builds in real world practice. Raptor
March 10, 201313 yr Hi Wisnu Prabowo, Name one aircraft in the history of aviation that was without problems. Chris pretty much sums it up and a few more could be added to that list. For me the DC-10 comes to mind as well, remember the DC-10 was grounded globally for an extended period of time following the American Airlines flight 191 accident until they could figure out the problems with the engine pods. That one is kind of similar to what the 787 is going through right now as they take the time to figure things out. Turns out it's issues were from maintenance personel not following proper engine replacement procedures, gave a well built aircraft a bad reputation due to improper maintenance practices. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
March 10, 201313 yr The above are single system issues as is the case for the 787. Single system issues that caused all the delays? I am talking about the whole picture from the beginning. Issues with molds, components not fitting together, having to screw the rollout aircraft together with improper fasteners to get it out for the display. All these issues were long before the battery problem and airlines still lined up to buy it. Chris Miller
March 10, 201313 yr I send an email to Sukhoi and told them about the problems about SSJ. They responded by saying they are terribly sorry and leave the commercial airline market immediately.
