Trouble downloading Rex

Featured Replies

I have a number of downloads that need to be installed for my FSX. The installer couldn't finish. A pop up saying the cab 14 download was either corrupt or damaged. I have windows 8. I got this through PC Aviater using an instant download.

My suggestion is  to post your issue in the rexe  forum  where you should get support  there. In the  mean time  while  your waiting  since  you need to be verified first in the rexe  forum,  you might  try to do another  download using  a different  download  manager instead of the  default  one.

Dont  know about  win 8  but users had  trouble  unzipping the  the large  amount of  data  in the  exe using  the  default  one, i used winzip   which is  a free download  and worked well

I went through this at SimMarket...Same exact thing.

Can you send a ticket to PC aviator to let them know about the corrupt files? Not sure of the way that works with them. But it did take a couple of days for SimMarket to re-upload the good files.

I had gone to the REX forum to ask for help...because I hadn't heard back from SimMarket, and between Times99 and Guitarman they got it all worked out.

I must have pounded my head against the key board a 1,000 times trying to figure out what was wrong...when it was a corrupt file all the time.

I uninstalled, then re-installed and finally got the REX  main pop up board to show. Went through all the settings , but it won't respond when I click fly now. I see REX updating the settings. I go to FSX and don't see REX working. ??????????????????????

Did you actually install the textures? Make sure you have the correct path set for FSX for REX.

By default, it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X

make sure you read the manual its all explained  in their on how  to do it, if you open up the splash screen  and click  the help tab it will bring up the manual.

In short i will try  to help you  since  you  might have fogotten a few things

Ensure  you have pointed  on where  you have  fsx installed  on your  pc  in the configuaration manager

In the create/ restore back up texture  create  you back up   so when and  if  you want to delete   rexe  you can revert back to the  standard fsx  textures settings

In the configuaration area  click on the weather tab on the right  and  tick the first 3  boxes being

enable rex weather,   enable auto launch rexe     enable auto launch fsx

the  rest  you can experiment  at your own time  with the help of  the manual  all the settings are explained on what they do

Your next step is  to  install your all  your  textures  for the first time  so tick the texture  tab  and  in each  box  you can  select  what tetures you want  etc after  all  this  save  the texture  than install  it  the first time it will take  awhile  to  do this,  you only need  to do this  one  time  unless you want  to change  any textures

than in the option  area select  what  you want  etc

than once you have  done  this  you can either  start fs  manually  and  rexe  will start when you start   at airport or  you  can  start rexe   click the weather  tab  tick ok for  real world   select your  airport  starting  point  and click fly  than fsx  will start   than go as normal.

Ensure you run rexe as admin rights  as well

as the previous poster has  said  above   and   have  a read of the manual

If I see the folder where REX is in, can I simply copy or  drag that folder into the LSX folder?

I click let's fly in Rex and the pop up appears to download the settings, but it never finishes, so I don't make the connection to  FSX.

If I see the folder where REX is in, can I simply copy or  drag that folder into the LSX folder?

No  you dont install  rexe  into the  fsx folder at all,  in mine install  eg    its  c:/fsx  and  c:/ Rex  you best bet  now is to post your question in the rexe forum now since  now  you are getting further into trouble  tim will get  you fixed in no time at all

When you ran the installer it asked  you where you want  to install it hopefully  you  installed it  in its own root drive like i had  done.
