DX-10 and TrackIR lag + Fraps counter

Featured Replies

Guys, I am back in DX-10 team thanks to PJ.

Thanks to Paul I have just performed first GA flight in DX-10 since quite a few years. Since the weather is pretty in DX-10, I've picked Cessna BirdDog on floats.

Two issues was discovered:

- TrackIR (via EZdok Camera) is pretty laggy from time to time - I have not seen it in DX-9 never ever. I think it happens when there is a high demand on the system, but it is too early to confirm. I move my physical head from left to right, my pilot is following about 1/3 second later.

- fraps is compatible with DX-10 AFAIK. I cannot see thi nice big numbers which most of us is chasing for

Have You ever seen this?

I can live with no FRAPS, no big deal... But lazy pilot with headache is a showstopper on short final when one virtual pilot has to do the task for two trained commercial pilots...

There should be no changes in performance between DX9 and DX10 in regards to TrackIR and EZdok.  If you are seeing any changes, then you have a setting set too high in your FSX.cfg or display driver.  Go back to DX9 and see if you are having the same issue. DX10 is only higher tech in regards to the rendering a video card can display.  It is superior to DX9 and therefore better performing only in regards to the video aspects.  In most cases, you should be able to use the same fsx.cfg and display driver settings for DX9 and DX10.  I do at least.  The only difference between DX9 and DX10 is the fact you turned on DX10 Preview.  It only added a few more pieces of eye-candy and you would see more if the FSX developers were still developing this product.  In fact, if there were still working, by now you would be seeing the technology in DX11 and maybe DX12 which can make the environment even more life like.

Best regards,

Jim

I think I have pinpointed the reason for the lag by 'update the game compatibility list' in upper right corner of TrackIR interface.

I have flown about 5 hrs in bad weather and did not noticed the lag.

Will report back if the status will change.
