March 17, 201313 yr Would your board support a 1155 chip? You really would want something a bit stronger than that. William Sequeira

March 17, 201313 yr Author Ok guys those are really too expensive for me. What about a i3 3220 that I could overclock? Jonathon James
March 17, 201313 yr To be honest. I would, if it was out of the budget now, save up for it. Not just for FSX, but because programs now are needing that extra power. It would be worth your money to just save and get something that will give you more leg room for the future and for power. That is just my opinion. The way tech goes now as you know the second you buy one thing, something newer and stronger comes out. Try never to buy already a obsolete part/software because that will put you farther behind. March 17, 201313 yr The advices above are correct. But my opinion slightly differs just to add more point of views. I am running i5 2500K and not having been overclocked, I simply have no sources to do so, I prefer send my spare budget to buy add ons as I am building FSX from a scratch. i5 760 is a bit outdated, not entirely 'week' but for todays pricing and requirements, get 2500K at least. That way, you could always easily overclock when you have sufficient fund to get a decent motherboard, meanwhile, default i5 2500K clock speed is good enough to allow your sliders a bit to the right. i5 760 and 13 are not built to be overclocked. FSX needs powerful CPU clock, every one here knows that, If saving more takes days or couple of weeks, I suggest that you wait. Unlike me, I cannot wait, so I took i5 2500K and the cheapest 1155 motherboard which is not able to overclock 2500k. but 760 is OKAY. skip i3.. and spending more time reading posts on Tomshardware, you'll manage to get the 760 on top. The tendency here, people suggest you to have the same views with their preference, they're mostly good tips, however, you yourself who knows how adequate your wallet is Of course you're using FSX. But in case you're still using the old but goodie FS9, 760 has it all to have it high speed
