Sometimes I see a full list of a member's machine & sim specs on the left hand side, and sometimes I need to click to view if I want to.  The former version, as mine does here, seems to make for a lot of white space in a topic, as the minutest of generally uninteresting detail about his motherboard version and other stuff is listed.

 

Is there a setting I can elect to stop that happening?

That's probably due to the maintenance the Avsim administration is doing right now, and it seems to be back as it used to be(i.e. you have to click the tabs). I had the same issue this morning, and just before I wanted to ask the very same question as you did, I stumbled over this message explaining the issue.
