Duplicate Objects

Featured Replies

Wondering if hteres a utility that w ill automatically scan for duplicate object files in fs9, i have the utillity to scan for duplicated airports but would like one that focuses on library objects. I have tons of library objects and would like to start cleaning up a bit, i know there has to be similar objects in other directories wich can cause issues ive manage to fix most but really like to make this task easier as sometimes i run into an object with no texture and not sure the name of the object or where the duplicate can be found or located.

Yes, there is such a utility. It is called "Find All Duplicate" and it was designed by Gerard Durand. The readme says it is for FS2002 but it works perfectly in FS9. It will find all duplicated textures and place them into a special folder within the particular texture file, so you can easily restore them if you want. it's freeware.

Cheers

Thanks for this, one thing to make things easier  Is there a similiar utillity for finding also duplicate bgl objects?

I just recently discovered some weird objects at LEMD by Aerosoft - LWMViewer (my love!) pointed me to a wrongly placed bgl over at a scenery of OPLA - Pakistan. Seems sth. in the creation of the Pakistan Bgl coordinates went wrong. Now: no more alien artifacts anymore at LEMD.

Did I mention, I love LWMViewer when it comes to scenery problems?

Alex - can you tell us more about LWNViewer? It sounds like what the OR was looking for

Hey Kiwi I can tell a little bit about LWM Viewer, This utillity is great, It has helped me with lots of scenery issues, For exmple say your in an unfimiliar area in your sim and you spot Double shore line issues, or water where there isnt suppose to be water ect ect ect, Right away youd would know that Double shore lines and water issues are caused MAINLY CAUSED BY hpxxxxxx.bgl fILES OR hlxxxxxx.BGL FIles FLxxxxx.BGL files well LWMViewer will tell you wich HP,HL,FL,PK,RD,RR BGL files are used for that area.

For example in my case i now know wich BGL files are used for Vancouver,Misty,Tongass, ect ect ect anywhere i go i know wich BGL file to look for to fix Double shore line issues et ect ect and more

it it wasnt for alex i woulnt have known anything about it lol heres the link http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=lwmviewer&CatID=root&Go=Search

Sounds great - I will try it. Thanks

Also it will display sections on the map that will be hi-lighted in red to identify altitude issues (For example) If there's a red highlighted section in LWM viewer it usually means the terrain or water class is not even (May be to high) wich will allow you to correct the problem by adding Flattens to specific areas that need them.

Which LWM Viewer version should be used? 1 or 2? Or either is good enough?
