March 22, 201313 yr Setting up for a long haul cargo flight I discovered that fuel capacity for the subject model should be upwards of ~400K. The Load Manager(s) appear to restrict us to loading a Max of ~361K. Is there a practical workaround for this, or must we resort to clandestine "inflight refueling" ? ~ Best to all, Ken Boardman Ken Boardman
March 22, 201313 yr Go to Boeing's website, find the detailed characteristics of the 748 (F or not) and find the charts on fuel/range/weight, then find out how much fuel you can carry at whatever weight you need and it will tell you how much range you can get, or vise versa. March 22, 201313 yr Author I am aware of the Cargo vs Fuel load compromises; however the real world B747-i models have approx 40K+ more fuel carrying capacity that the Load Manager allows us to load. I'm asking if anyone has a method for loading more than than the ~361K ..... Thank you for replies, Ken Ken Boardman
March 23, 201313 yr If this is PMDG, then make a help ticket and see what they say. There might be a way to edit the .cfg file but I dont know how to do that, and if you dont feel comfortable doing it then you probably dont wanna go messing around with it. Have you tried using the FS fuel/payload planner? Or have you been using that? If you have been using the FS load planner and it is a PMDG aircraft than try to use the PMDG load manager instead. March 23, 201313 yr Author Never a good idea (and a waste of time) using the FS Payload / Fuel planner. Must use the Load Manager for this and most PMDG planes for loadouts I believe. I may use your suggestion regarding contacting "Support" > although I suspect they'll tell me that most of the plane's specs are cloned from the earlier B744, etc. I was hoping that someone in this forum who has had a similar fuel need for long haul cargo flights (and found a solution) would share it with us. March 23, 201313 yr Before you fire off a support ticket (the folks at PMDG are sort of busy ATM) it might be worth having a look at the PMDG 748 Product Page: http://www.precisionmanuals.com/pages/product/748.html ""*Note: This product is a visual model extension that uses the underlying PMDG 747-400X simulation for the flight, cockpit and systems models. This product allows the user to add a high fidelity visual model of the 747-8 to their Flight Simulator X experience."" Clear as mud. Steve Bell "Wise men talk because they have something to say.
