New 787 for FS9! But....

Featured Replies

Hi

Has anyone dared to try the new Boeing 787 for FS9 produced by AFS? I am reluctant to buy it after my experience some years ago with the AFS A380 which I bought to replace my old Abacus/First Class Sim A380, only to find that the AFS product was even worse, being almost unflyable, to the extent that it was consigned to my FS9 scrap heap! Unfortunately it looks as if the Quality Wings 787, which looks good in their previews, is only going to be for FSX, so there is no point in waiting for that.

On the off chance of sounding rude, which I am not trying to be, you generally get what you pay for.

There are sceneries that cost more than that. I paid close to $80 Cdn for the PMDG MD-11 and $35 Cdn for the Wilco Volume one Airbus deluxe.

You have to give the guy credit though for trying to fill a void. For $20, I'd say go for it. But each to their own comfort level. I do not think it would be on par with more expensive payware addons.

Don't blame for my name, my parents were hippies and met in Woodstock

Oh, I know that you get what you pay for as I too have paid the full whack for the PMDG MD-11 (as well as all of the other PMDG airliners amongst at least 250 different payware aircraft addons which I have purchased for FS9 over the years at various prices from low to high!), but there are many relatively cheap payware aircraft addons out there which at least are still flyable and can give a lot of pleasure even if they may not be very sophisticated from a system viewpoint. My previous experience of AFS however is that not alone are their products not sophisticated systemwise, but they are not even flyable! Just wondered (hoped against hope maybe) if they might have upped their game with this one as it were!

One bargain I found was with Just Flight's Duchess and R44.  Both were inexpensive but worth every penny and more.  Sometimes a low price can still yield a great aircraft.  Not only that, but Just Flight released the aircraft in one package for FS9 and FSX.
