March 23, 201313 yr I kind of pride myself on figuring things out on my own. Having taken physics, calculus, and computer programing in college, I sort of figure I can debug most problems. However; I am really stumped on this particular issue. I've watched Utube videos, read the tutorial #1 on the pmdg 737-800 ngx and read numerous postings on forums including this one, and still my 737-800 ngx will not properly line up with the runway at KBOS 15R. The plane keeps coming in from an angle, right to left, and sets down slightly to the left of the runway. I've been simming for awhile and have flown on Vatsim a couple of times so I'm not exacly a newbie at this, but I have recently purchased the 737-800 ngx, and don't plan on purchasing the manuals. I set both nav1 and nav2 frequencies to 110.7 and make sure to transfer to active. I set the HGS PRI Alll ARM Elevation 14 ft. Runway length 10083 ft. I then hit enter Upon approach I turn on APU Make sure spoiler is armed Two miles before the localizer I push the vor loc After the lnav light goes out I push the app button and then the cmd button so that both cmd buttons are lit I have airac 1303 installed in the FMC from navgraph, and here are the settings I have in the FMC concerning auto land. GS capture before loc - deny HGS installed - yes HGS auto Alll mode - yes HGS GS ref line in PRI - on Auto Land - Fail op set fsx loc crs - on Realistic ap engagement - on Not sure what the two next to the last ones are. I think that pretty much sums it up. I would extremely grateful for a little assist here. I know that it must be something glaringly simple, but I can't figure out what. Thanks in advance Fernando Macias

March 23, 201313 yr Did you set the ILS front course (150 degrees for KBOS ILS15R) on both the Captain's and F/O's course selectors? Also, do note that you don't need to purchase the NGX documentation separately; everything comes included with the download version as a set of PDF documents (see your PMDG 737NGX Start Menu folder). Some other miscellaneous pointers that might be of use: Configuring and using the HGS is not a strict requirement for performing an autoland (although it certainly doesn't hurt to do so, as it increases situational awareness). It's not standard procedure to start the APU in flight under normal circumstances. The "SET FSX LOC CRS" setting lets the NGX automatically match the MCP front course setting to the hard-coded value from the FSX navaid database for the ILS approach being flown. This is explained in detail in the 737 NGX Introduction manual. The "Realistic A/P Engagement" setting, when enabled, restricts the envelope from within which you can successfully engage the autopilot. Simply put, the aircraft should be properly trimmed, with no forces applied to the controls, before the A/P will engage. This setting is described in the Introduction manual as well (as are all the other aircraft and simulation settings). HTH.
March 23, 201313 yr 15R has an offset localizer in real life, and has no auto land capabilities. It seems my chart reading skills have atrophied quite a bit, as I'm at a loss as to how this approach plate would indicate the presence of an offset localizer. Could you please enlighten us from where you've gleaned this crucial piece of information? Sorry, I can't read...
March 23, 201313 yr I have recently purchased the 737-800 ngx, and don't plan on purchasing the manuals. No need to. I think I should brush up a bit on my charts. Next project. Did you set the ILS front course (150 degrees for KBOS ILS15R) on both the Captain's and F/O's course selectors? I just want to thank everyone who replied to this post with helpful information. BLUE SKIES ! Fernando Macias
