Fs2004 AI Aircraft Textures Not Loading

Featured Replies

Hi,

I seem to be having troubles with my AI aircraft textures not loading unless i am very close to them either on the ground or whilest the AI aircraft are on approach.

I have increased the texture loading in cfg file to

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=800

But the ai aircraft textures are still blank in the distance.

I have 4G of ram and Nevedia 450 GTS Card.

Running W7 64 Bit.

I get around 35 FPS so a good frame rate.

Just annoying to see grey textureless aircraft sitting at an airport !

Any ideas ?

Regards

Simon

Is there any difference in texture loading time dependent on the number of AI Aircraft?

E.g. when you place yourself at KJFK there's a definite, quite "natural" lag in loading all those textures that are asked for by the bgl.

Remember: you can bring down ANY setup to its knees with a high number of AI's around you.

What's the total number of AI's in your typical situation?

If the AI textures are Mipped make sure you have the MIP setting in FS9 GUI to at least 4 if not 8. Texture_Bandwidth_Mult=800 seems a bit high and might cause loading problems. I would suggest you try 400, no more than that. A setting that is to high does more harm than good.

If I remember correctly (which should always be questioned); If the AI aircraft textures are mip mapped and you have mips turned off in the sim then FS9 has a habit of loading a lower resolution texture (?), which might be causing what you are seeing.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses.

I do have my ai at 100% as i do like the realism when flying out of any airport.

I have mips turned on in the sim.

I have also reduced the terrain to 400, but no difference.

I will keep trying different setting to see if i can resolve this issue.

Many thanks again.

Have you accidently installed DXT5 textures? That can cause the problems, you have described...

Patrick,

how will i know if i have installed DXT5 Textures ?

With DXTbmp (http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/download/dxtbmpx.EXE).

Remove the AI step by step. For example: remove the A320 series, take a look in your sim where you have seen this "failure". If nothink helps than remove the A330 and/or the A340 and so on. It's the "failure" gone? Then step back (only one aircraft). It's the failure back? Than check every .bmp in the texture folder of the last aicraft you have moved into your sim... Than correct the faulty .bmp!
