March 28, 201313 yr Today I wanted to record my landing with FSRecorder when I was approaching LAX with the CS 707. In order to do that, I opened the FSRecorder menu during flight but as I clicked OK FSX crashed. I am not only experiencing this with the FSRecorder menu but also with every other menu I try to access during flight. I've been told to remove the file UIAutomationCore.dll from its folder but that does not help. Furthermore, I've checked dll.xml with Notepad++ as suggested in another topic here on AVSIM but it appears to be okay. Fortunately, FSX runs properly without any menu clicks. Now I'm at the verge of despair
March 29, 201313 yr You need to download and run AppCrashView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html so I can see some of the details of your crash(es). March 29, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the advice, I'll certainly come back to this as soon as I experience another CTD. But I've just decided to reinstall FSX, that may solve the issue and also gives me an opportunity to tidy up my hard drive that slowly turns into a mess of addons I don't use anyway. Short question, do I have to uninstall every single addon individually before uninstalling FSX?
March 29, 201313 yr Short question, do I have to uninstall every single addon individually before uninstalling FSX? No. You can if you want but not necessary. Here's an excellent uninstall/reinstall guide. It is important that you remove everything. When you uninstall FSX, it will leave a lot of things left over on your HDD and you will need to manually remove them. When you uninstall FSX, all your addons will be gone too. Run a freeware registry after the uninstall and then begin the reinstall. Make sure you start up FSX immediately after installing FSX. Don't install any SP's or Acceleration or anything. Just make sure FSX is running properly and this will get your FSX.cfg set up too before you start installing Acceleration or SP2. All of your CTD's are still available after you run the AppCrashView. Uninstalling FSX will not remove the information regarding those crashes. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 30, 201313 yr Author Now that I've reinstalled FSX, FlyTampa's Montréal as well as CS's 707, I'm encountering further problems. FSX is still crashing when I attempt to open the menu during flight, but I guess this is due to the file UiAutomationCore.dll that's still in its original folder. What throws me is that in the virtual cockpit of the 707 the textures fail when I switch on that switch located at the overhead panel that changes the initial cockpit lighting to a somewhat different one. I can see the runway through what's usually supposed to be the cockpit floor. Moreover, I cannot turn the switch off again due to a weird large black stain that covers almost the entire overhead panel. Finally, as if this wasn't enough, there are no cockpit sounds. FSX is really driving me mad...
