Oh that pesky atc.dll

Featured Replies

Ive struggled alot with this one. Ive read alot about it, and ive learned alot as well.

I did several changes when it was bugging me alot such as:

Changing CL-settings, lowering RAM clock speed, no CPU OC,

always starting all add-ons (AS2012, TrackIR) and FSX as an admin, and

always have FSX in focus during the entire flight (no surfing, playing music etc).

This actually worked very well until yesterday.. And now im really scratching my head in confusion.

I was doing a FDX from FLL to AFW on the PMDG Md11. I had flown for a while (was over Texas),

and it was dark outside. And enter atc.dll CTD...

What confuses me about this particular CTD issue, is that I cannot find any logic in it. It ALWAYS happens

in cruise, never in clmb/descent or @ the airport. Yet alot of the posts concerning this issue, is talking about

memory usage and so on..

Really puzzles me how I can be at FsDreamTeam JFK loaded in the NGX or MD11, and nothing happens, but when I get

in the air and fly at CRZ it crashes. If its a memory issue ,how can that be?

This is THE ONE CTD Id be willing to pay someone for to figure out, because its so annoying..

Thank you, for ANY help!

I'm hoping those lines I recommended to be placed in the fsx.cfg will help detect missing objects and textures that might lead to a solution to this problem.  However, most of the issues with atc.dll have been resolved with lowering FSX settings or repairing a bad setting in the FSX.cfg.  BufferPools is one of those culprits.  It is either entered wrong or it just plain doesn't work on your computer.  This setting will definitely affect performance so it is very important the Bufferpools setting is correct and, if there are problems, simply comment (//) the lines so they won't run the next time FSX starts.

Best regards,

Jim
