New update today for tinmouse.org freeware B737-200 Advanced project

Featured Replies

Beauty 737-200, setting a new standard for freeware and exceeding the standards of most payware.Identical to the real B-737-200 full motion simulator so far.Lots of thanks to the developers at www.tinmouse.orgThey are doing a version for FS2002 again now also.RECENT CHANGES040927 - fix 400hz electrical sound - (hopefully) fix 1600x1200 resolution mode - started throttle/fire panel - decrease spoiler handle sensitivity for takeoff warning040729 - fix F/D roll bug, decrease sensitivity - started overhead panel (fuel, APU) - GPS integration (HSI and autopilot only) - patch by Geir Otto Olsen to fix altimeter baro setting - switch F/D pitch cmd mouse functions for left and right click - better EPR values during reverse thrust - added master caution/recall flags for fuel, APU, filter icing - fixed bug in number two DME - adjusted stab trim takeoff warning for new air file - now using macros in the gauge callbacks for the different cases

Awesome news on the update...can't wait till it moves on more - only problem I have is I can't change the NAV1 and NAV2 frequencys, but it's a known problem...

I don't have a problem at all changing nav freq's, see shots below. What I find strange is that when I changed the nav 1 freq off the loc the f/d and a/p annunciaters stayed lit up, that's strange, not sure if the real sim does that or not, anyone??I think I'll let Rich know, maybe he can jump in the real sim and check.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92543.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/92544.jpg

Hmmm not sure...It's a weird autopilot system. I still don't know how to use the pitch command, if I wanna climb I gotta do it manually until I get to cruise alt, and only then can I put on the alt hold. It's an awesome panel though, it's just a pitty I have to shoot all my approaches with an ILS, but i only have time for circuits anyway so I guess it's not so bad! One great place to try and land this bird is PADU, circling DME/VOR approach, or something like that, It's hard when your struggeling to slow down and so on, great fun though since it's surrounded by water:PI think i'll head over and report my nav problems, they seem to have disapeered, and also what is this about the rich jumping into the 737 sim, is a real pilot?:(

Rich, the guy developing this panel is a full motion simulator technician, he gets paid to test/repair/test fly the real Boeing sims, that's why this panel is as accurate as it is, you don't get any closer to the real thing than this.

Andy,Glad you like this panel. Suggest browsing through the document called Autoflight. You can find it under misc documents. Regards,Dave Vega

The soundset is great too! Turn up the volume and you'll feel the scream fot earprotection!:-lol The panel fantastic! Can't wait until it is finished. Truely a work of art and very smooth gauges too!regards,Claudio

>it's just a>pitty I have to shoot all my approaches with an ILSNot sure what you mean by that, you can shoot VOR and NDB approaches with this panel, not just ILS's.The autopilot on the -200 doesn't have a rate of climb function, I think it is just a pitch hold, your power will determine the rate of climb for whatever pitch you set the autopilot to hold.If you look at the picture below, the red circle is the flight director control panel, and the blue circle is the autopilot control panel, each system is isolated from the other, they do not even know each other exists, they are not married like most a/p and f/d systems. To use the autopilot pitch command, move the AIL paddel to the up position, this engages the pitch portion of the autopilot, with the switch on the left side of the autopilot in manual (MAN) you gently push the yoke to the desired pitch and let go, the autopilot will maintain the pitch attitude, if you push on the yoke instead of move it gently it will disengage the autopilot. You can do this with or without the flight director, if you want to use them together you have to set each one separately, as an example say were are climbing and you want to maintain a 15 degree nose up attitude, first set the flight director up, select HDG heading mode on the f/d panel and set the heading bug on the HSI to your present heading and with the pitch command knob on the right side of the f/d panel set a 15 degree climb. Now engage the autopilot and pull back on the yoke untill you get into the f/d bars and than release the yoke and the autopilot should maintain that attitude.http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...3965ed5a87e.gif

Hey, sorry I don't understand the post I wrote anymore...sorry, take no notice of it. What I mean't is when I am flying approaches and such I can't use anything which uses the NAV1 and NAV2 frequencies since mine doesn't work! I should of said i can't shoot any ILS approaches.Man, i really have to learn the systems better, I'll go download those manuals - thanksI think i understand what you mean now, I knew it didn't have a rate of climb thing, and only a pitch cmd, but I typed the wrong thing and so on and I'm sorry i've confused everyone!I will go try and sort it out now! Also, now I understand how Richard can make it so realistic:PThanks guys!

If you're having a problem tuning the NAV freq's it's because of another add-on you've installed, try installing fs9 in another location on your hard drive (you can do this and it will not conflict with your 1st install) and than add the 737-200 and I bet your problems will be gone.

Thanks for the heads up, this is a wonderfull package, my thanks to everyone involved, can't wait until it's complete.Does anyone know where i can find performance info on the JT8D-17A engines used in this package, like take off and climb epr settings? On the avsim library i could find info for JT8D-9 and JT8D-15 but not the 17A.Jorge

Sorted the NAV issue now, I copied all the autopilot and radio's sections from the flight dynamics on the site to the flight dynamics i use, and it works perfectly! I just wish the flight dynamics on the site had better engines parameters, it takes 65% N1 just to get moving:|

Great tip, thanks. If it flies as good as it looks, I'll be a devoted fan! Going to download it all when I get home from work and take it on a test flight around the Hawaiian Islands.http://www.2decker.com/media/solent1-2.JPGAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

The flight dynamics you just posted the link to are almost 2 months old, and these are the ones I said about with it needing stupidly high amounts of thrust jsut to get it rolling (ie 65% N1 - shouldn't go over 45 or the horn will go off if not set up in takeoff config?)Thats also the model I am using, sorry if I made it sound like i wasn't, unless your talking to the later poster:)Also, while all us 737 drivers are here, I just wondered how you guys land these birds? It says to flare at 15foot slowly closing the throttles to be at idle at touchdown, but this doesn't seem to work too well, are we supposed to slow the descent rate a bit at 30-40 foot? I know Brad Marsh says in the -800 he starts the flare at 30-40 foot and cuts the throttle at 27foot RA' Just wondered about peoples techniques for the -200...thanks
