Default Flight always starts in VC view

Featured Replies

I've saved a flight at my local airport with my favourite aircraft on the ramp and I'm looking at it in the spot plane view.  I save the flight and also make it the default flight.  Here's the curiious part.  The next time I start FSX it loads my default flight but it always loads it in the virtual cockpit view, not in the spot view that was in use when I saved the flight.  But.... if I load the same flight when FSX is already running (from the Free Flight screen)  it starts in the spot view just the way I saved it.  Any ideas as to why this is happening?  Obviously its not the end of the world if I don't solve this, but I'm really curious as to what is going on.

Cheers,

Dave,

There is an option in Settings for starting in 2D or VC.  Try that ?

Tried changing option to 2D but the flight still loads with a view of the 2D cockpit, not the Spot view that was saved with the flight.

I have the same problem except mine always loads the tower view instead of the spot view like the flight was saved.

With the .FLT file; how about checking the GUID for the default view corresponds to the required camera?

Well, I'm not sure how FSX would save a flight with the wrong CurrentCamera.

But maybe the default .FLT does not have the Guid expected in "CurrentCamera" if not then it might work if you hand edit the CurrentCamera Guid.

...in the .FLT file look for:

[Window.1]
CurrentCamera={B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB5}

the 2D GUID:

[Camera.1.1]

..
Guid={B1386D92-4782-4682-A137-738E25D1BAB5}

..

the VC GUID:

[Camera.1.2]
..

Guid={C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078}

..

and so on.

OK, just checked the .flt file for my default flight.

The current camera guid is:

 CurrentCamera={BCA3FDD1-FB83-4BBA- 8407-4922A7F0D00D}

 This corresponds to the chase view with a guid of

[Camera.1.5]
Guid={BCA3FDD1-FB83-4BBA-8407-4922A7F0D00D}

Default flight is saved in the chase view.  Default flight always loads to the tower view.

If, after loading the default flight I load another flight it will load the correct view.  If I then go back and load the default flight it will load the correct view.

It only loads the tower view when I first boot Flt Sim.

Any camera view addons running? Could try renaming dll.xml, and exe.xml, for a test with the sim starting up alone, maybe something external affecting it. As you say doesn't seem to be a big deal, but it is weird behaviour.
