September 29, 200421 yr Moderator >Has anyone tried this product ?>>http://www.simw.com/download/index.cfm?fus...etails&pid=1267I looked at them, but couldn't honestly see any improvement over the freeware one available here and elsewhere. The instruments on the payware package aren't even close to the real a/c's instruments either.I've considered building a completely new GMax model for the freeware TB20GT, perhaps even upgrading it to a TB21GT, but since learning that EADS Socata have pulled the plug on the entire Carribean line (Trinidad, Tampico and Tobago), there's not much point.A fully loaded Cirrus SR22 will outperform the TB21GT by a wide margin, and costs (new) about one-third of a new TB21GT! EADS Socata decided to cancel any further production or development, until they can find a way to cut their costs enough to become competitive with the current GA a/c now on the market. Fr. They build new aircraft on demand with 30 days delivery. Are you sure the SR22 is outperforming the TB21GT ?Don't have the figures right now but somehow I was convinced it was the oposite. Here are some pic's from Socata USA assembly linehttp://hellasga.com/gallery/album04(page 2)and some close ups of a 1996 TB20 model ...http://hellasga.com/gallery/album01If you want some more gimme a shout.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
September 30, 200421 yr Hi - I recently purchased the Socata, and was disappointed. The plane is indeed apparantly identical to the freeware version, except for some superficial tarting up of the exterior. This makes me wary of purchasing any further items from the company.Brian
September 30, 200421 yr I did look at it with a view to purchasing, but, I tend not to buy products that include default gauges, if at all possible.Dan.

Here's the entire release:Fri Aug 6, 2004 (from AOPA):"EADS Socata Marketing Manager Jayson A. Gehri said the single-engineline of aircraft, including the Tampico, Tobago, and top-of-the-lineTrinidad, is on hiatus until the company can look at product improvements and cost reductions to make those aircraft more competitive. There is still an inventory of the aircraft available from last year. "For the foreseeable future, they will be on a build-to-order basis, and there is no serial production," said Gehri. He said it is not unusual for companies to call for a brief pause in production until aircraft can be brought back at a more competitive level."Mr. Gehri did state that they would "build-to-order," which is only good business, since they have an ample inventory of parts on hand, and they would be building a "PRE-SOLD" aircraft. Also, there is still "an inventory of the aircraft available from last year." At some point of course, that inventory will be depleted. Thus far, there's been no great rush on Socata dealers to buy the remaining inventory.>Are you sure the SR22 is outperforming the TB21GT ?>Don't have the figures right now but somehow I was convinced>it was the oposite. On a cost-of-acquisition + operational costs basis, yes. September 30, 200421 yr I purchased the aircraft and really enjoy it. I to was very disapointed to find that it had default gauges and default sounds. I don't mind paying an artists for their work. In this case I paid for the model and some textures. The first day I owned it I added new realistic sounds, gauges, FX, and a paint scheme. I plan on making more paint schemes for this. I did some research at www.airliners.net to find out what kind of gauges they might have, and what paint schemes. Come to find out the paint schemes provided are real world colors. I find the modeling to be better than the freeware versions, and once you spice it up with new gauges, fx, etc. it is an awsome plane.I did a quick review of the Socata Collection. Here are some links to the screen shots I took.Title: Quality Payware or Should be Freewarehttp://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaB...;num=1096094906Title:Socata Collection Codered Stylehttp://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaB...;num=1096297746Title:More of that French Stuffhttp://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaB...;num=1096520733

September 30, 200421 yr But should you have to do all that work when you buy payware?, I certainly don't think so.Still, I am very greatfull for the freeware Eric has supplied us with, and to that end he should be "compensated", maybe I just expect a little more when I lay money down?Dan.
October 4, 200421 yr >>>Are you sure the SR22 is outperforming the TB21GT ?>>Don't have the figures right now but somehow I was convinced>>it was the oposite.>>On a cost-of-acquisition + operational costs basis, yes.Bill you're right,(from another forum)The Cirrus SRV is probably the nearest competitor to a TB10 and for 200k dollars you get a 150 kt 4 seat fixed gear tourer, glass cockpit, GNS430, STec 555, super looks and an interior that even makes the TB look dated and cronky. The SR22 at 400k dollars is a competitor to a TB20 which gets you a 180 kt, massive 4 seat tourer, 664 pounds load with full fuel, twin GNS430, all glass cockpit, integral stormscope, mode S and Skywatch, BRS, all leather interior (and its dead swish), digital engine monitoring, full de-ice, auto prop and tons more goodies as standard. The diesel is only around the corner.Kyprianos Biris :-cool[link:avsim.com/greece/hvacc]Hellenic vACChttp://vateud.org/images/vatsim-eurs.gifhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg Hellenic vACC - Olympic Aegean Virtual Prepar3D 5.3 | CPU i9 10900K | VGA: RTX 3070 | RAM: 32GB DDR4 | Monitor: 3440x1440
