I have 12 GB of 1600 DDR3 RAM WAITING for XP10 64bit!

Featured Replies

Finally....a flight sim that won't see an artificial RAM usage barrier, like FSX!  I can't wait....crank up those settings...and no more CTD because of a shortage of 'usable' memory....can't wait!

Bring it on, Baby, bring it on.........time for a change..... I don't want my flight sim 'stable' to be a one horse affair...lol!   GTX 680, i7-975 cpu, and 12 GB system memory is going to give me a rockin' ole time... :)

I got that x64 version.  It's great until you use the addons that say 64 bit compatible.  Take Carenado's A36 for example.  Listed as XP10 x64 compatible.  What they dont' tell you is that it will work, but then the glass Aspen gauge encounters an OOM situation with its script, rendering it useless.  Also a lot of other planes don't work in x64 yet.  The stock XP10 planes leave much to be desired.

So if you are going x64 be SURE the addon is truly compatible with x64.  Also as far as I know there is no x64-based plugin for flying on vatsim/ivao yet.

Thaks for the head's up, Ryan.  I have no investment yet with Xplane 10, but intend to seriously check it out. Thanks again for things to be aware of.  I have put together a pretty hot system now, and want to flex some of its muscle.

BTW, I highly recommend that anybody that has any version of the i7 platform....to throw in 12 GB's at the minimum.  I have noticed that my system is lightning fast, post install, in all aspects of operation. I thought that it might strongly be the latest updated Alienware BIOS that I flashed late last week.  I guess it could be, but in seeing how fast things happen now. Instant, and snapping open applications, web pages that update before I can even blink....led me to Google search about other users that had installed 12 GB's of system RAM or greater. What I found out, is that an i7 platform with Windows 7 64 bit, really handles caching extremely well , and that W7 64 bit in conjunction with an i7 proc, really utilizes ample system RAM.  I can see this, now every day!

Before I put in two weeks ago, 3x4GB 1600 MHz 8-8-8-24 Crucial memory,(Tri-Channel) I had 6 GB installed in 2x3 GB 7-7-7-20 1333 MHz. from the same company.   No problems ever with Crucial's sticks. Great RAM. Most impressed with my system, now,  Most impressed!

I'm looking forward to it.  What really is attracting me now, is that finally we have a 64 bit offering that can bring out elevated aspects of our hardware, and 64 bit O.S.'s. I'm excited to try it out, once it is safely out of BETA stage.  I love FSX, but seriously want to give Xplane 64 bit a go and investigation.... :)

Yeah once they iron out a few of the x64 conversion bugs it should be more solid.  There's some major differences that you need to get used to... like no buildings at stock airports, odd way of rendering "Autogen," and some poor VC clickspot implementation.  Otherwise there's lots of good things about it, like night lighting, atmospheric conditions etc

yes xp10 uses everything in your computer:  video card, cpu and ram at full, you will enjoy the smooth fast fps with HDR LIGHTING and no stutters or pop-in autogen.

I wouldn't say fast smooth fps with HDR enabled...  if I enable it, and this is without any AA, the fps drop a lot compared to non HDR.  Add AA and fps get unusable in big cities.  Still it's fun to turn on at night.  I get stutters too, again, in big cities.

on my PC i'm always over 30-50 fps with HDR 2 SSAA + FXAA and above 25fps always over a city with "Extreme" settings.....every person has a different experience :good:
