This happens with all new installs. One suggestion might be to select a High Performance Power Plan. Goto the Control Panel >Hardware and Sound>Power Options. When open, select High performance (if it's hidden, click on the Hide Additional Plans). I also clicked on Change Plan Settings and selected Never to turn off the display or put the computer to sleep. Also run Windows Experience Index (Control Panel>System and Security>System>Check the Windows Experience Index). Once it finishes, it provides you with tips for improving your computer's performance. May 9, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the reply , I had unfortunately done all of the things you suggested already , I have since my post contacted the supplier of my ssd & subsequently they have had me return the drive under warranty as it had proven to be faulty.
Paul Sleight
June 1, 201313 yr Author Well after running some test specified by my supplier it turned out my 9 month old ssd was shot , they couldn't give me a replacement so gave me a full refund , I now have a Samsung 840 pro 256 gig ssd , I have done a fresh install , updated win 7 , put all the latest mobo drivers in , set everything to high performance that I could & it still seems laggy to me , im now wondering if the new ram , which has a higher frequency is not as good as the ram I had before or wether the new bios settings put in by ocuk to get a stable 4.5 ghz is not as good as it was before .
Paul Sleight
June 2, 201313 yr im now wondering if the new ram , which has a higher frequency is not as good as the ram I had before or wether the new bios settings put in by ocuk to get a stable 4.5 ghz is not as good as it was before . Sorry to hear about the bad SSD. I got one of the first ever made SSD's and never had a problem with it. Regarding RAM - Make sure you have your memory running at the highest performance level for the memory. Look in CPU-Z and look at the SPD Tab. The setting you want to attain is the XMP setting or the far right column settings. Go into your ASUS Bios and set it all manually. This means you will have to have your Ai Overclock Tuner set to the X.M.P. Profile. Set the memory frequency to the frequency set by the manufacturer (DDR3-2133MHz???). Then click on DRAM Timing Control and change the Auto settings to those listed in the SPD Tab on CPU-Z under XMP. Lastly, make sure your DRAM Voltage is set as shown under the SPD Tab on CPU-Z under XMP (mine was 1.65). I read somewhere that ASUS has an issue with configuring the memory settings automatically on some boards and with some DRAM. This is why I suggest you remove any Auto setting and set the figures manually. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! June 2, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the reply , the bios is a professional paid for over clock , the xmp profile is active & all the volrs are set & not on auto , it is either some obscure bios setting that is lowering the performance or some component . I would of expected this sytem which has had some parts upgraded that have failed to of performed a bit better than before. Heaven bench test on maxed out settings at 1980 x 1280 settings scored in the mid 500 range.
Paul Sleight
