October 5, 200421 yr I wouldn't know how one could do a better simulation than the SSTSIM one. Except maybe eye-candy stuff, that eats up my framerate.Probably PSS targets it more "mainstream". That's not meant offensive. Not everyone wants to read 250+ manual pages.Michael
October 5, 200421 yr I agree with Michael. PSS is probably going to be more mainstream/eye candy than detailed systems simulated. Not a dig at PSS at all, they have great products, but not for the people wanting highly detailed systems modeled (like PMDG, RFP,etc).John
October 5, 200421 yr PSS would certainly have to go some distance to match what the boys at SSTSIM have done, let alone surpass themDan.
October 5, 200421 yr Its about 10 times more complex than the 737NG, of which I get bored easily because it's too easy to fly.It flies like a very, very, very big fighter. Bear in mind it weighs half the weight of a fully loaded 744 when tanked up for EGLL-BarbadosIt's fun to hand fly below Mach1.0, and when light on fuel quite manouverable. It is very "point it and it will go there", very little trimming required. Take a good pull of the stick to change the attitude but very little to keep it there. Roll is quite snappy though. The VC is incredible all 3 stations are modelled at almost completeness, although the frame rate in the VC can fall to 1 frame a second on the guages at times. The Virtual cabin is excelent, but only the forward cabin is present to save on the frame rates. Basically the rear cabin looks just like the front one, so there isn't much point to it anyway. For some screen shots, check out this:http://campbell-multimedia.co.uk/fs-stuff/conc-rtw/XSonic climb.http://campbell-multimedia.co.uk/fs-stuff/...NAN-CHC/49..jpgVC (daylight) the flight engineers station is not shown, nor the full overhead.http://campbell-multimedia.co.uk/fs-stuff/...gers-again..jpg2D cockpit:http://campbell-multimedia.co.uk/fs-stuff/...ee-a-thing..jpgSorry about pic sizes.
October 5, 200421 yr Can I also point out that Andrew over at SSTSIM, the Panel designer and programmer provides what is probaly the best support I have EVER had for ANY product.I was in teh beta test team for the second service pack since release and the guy didn't stop! A mechanic on the beta team was feeding him things about how many degrees the EGT should fall when the anti-ice comes on and Andrew was immediately off to simulate it! I was flying round the world and reporting any problems I seen and 99% of them were solved for the release. If AVSim do an award for customer support for addons the Andrew Wilson gets my vote for 2004! Without doubt. And I know of a whole load of other people would give him the vote to.If your reading Andrew, "Good job mate."
October 5, 200421 yr Paul, you might want to reduce the size of those pics, they are well over size.Dan.
October 5, 200421 yr Sorry I posted the link to the originals, so I can't really resize them :(If its a really big deal Ill back them up and resize those ones i posted.
October 8, 200421 yr Author Okay I just took a look at the Altitude concorde documentation? I must say that Tutorial seem incredible hard to follow? Anyone have any success with it?
October 8, 200421 yr For those of you who have the Altitude Concorde I have one question: what kind of documentation is provided? Also, is the documentation in hard copy or on CD?Thanks,Marc
October 8, 200421 yr Author The documentation is available for download for free on the internet. I like to take a look at them if possible to get an idea of the product at hand :)But that tutorial it seems like it
October 9, 200421 yr Author Well thanks for the replies Andrew and Michael.Yes I want something realistic and challenging but yet achievable.I also have the PMDG 737NG I don
