Hi all,

When trying to load EGLL or any other UK airport from free flight, FSX stops responding. Any idea why this might be happening or a good place to start looking. Starting a flight from any other airport works fine. I've had FSX for a couple years now with no problems such as this. Thanks a lot for any help.

I assume you have add on airports & scenery , if so go into your scenery folder in settings & un tick every add on , then see if fsx will load a UK airport , if it does you know its an add on causing the problem , so tick one box at a time & try to fly if it loads its ok so move onto the next add on until you find which one is causing the problem. If it doesn't run with all add ons un ticked a fsx repair will need to be done .

Thanks for the advice. I unchecked "add on" and all payware scenery from settings>scenery library and still the same result.  I left all the defaults checked. What is involved in doing an FSX repair? I guess my question is what is it and how do I get started?

The other reason is that your computer cannot handle the complexity of London. I had a computer that was that way. I would load up a default plane in EGLL, and get to count the seconds until it crashed.

It handles all FSdreamteam sceneries ( klax, kord ,kdfw, klas) with ngx, ai, weather etc... just fine. Worked before.Heathrow is just the default. I never even make it to the airport itself. Merely typing "EGLL" as a destination will force fsx to stop responding. Now any airport in France has joined the ranks as well, no matter how simple. Seems more like as geographic problem. Germany works fine.

Which version of fsx do you have ? If you have fsx gold like me , simply put disc one in , let it boot up , it will ask if you want to remove or repair , click repair , it will at some point ask for disc 2 to complete the repair , I then before launching fsx put my acceleration disc in & run a repair from that to cos quite a few add ons I have need acceleration to work , if you have fsx with sp1 & sp2 patches I think maybe un install the patches , run fsx repair then re install the patches , but I am only guessing about that as its different to my set up. Thanks. I don't have gold. Just standard FSX with SP1 and SP2. How did that affect your add ons? I have PMDG ngx, FScreamteam sceneries etc......?

The first 2 discs don't install the patches acceleration does , some add ons don't work unless sp2 is installed.
