Hello all,

 

The last days I am unable to use the Bing maps service..I was able to fly jets and get crisp loaded tiles but now the loading proccess is too slow.

Even loading when stationary in an airport takes too much time. 

Does anyone know if something has happened?

Never mind..it seems my internet connection became slower..

Glad to hear that cuz I'm seriously pondering trying it out.  Have to go get an amazing harddrive first cuz I plan on caching.

Nice! I am waiting for a fix from my ISP. I fly without TP now and I can't stand the defauld tiles...TileProxy is just amazing! I got the best results using an SSD for caching. The same SSD I have Windows and Preare3D (or FSX) installed.

Can I ask where you get this info from-is this a recent change at all???

 

I fly with TP and as I haven't flown for a couple of weeks so I haven't had chance to notice any problems!!

No problem. I had a hell of a time trying to find it myself but what I did was:

 

* Download Mozilla Firefox browser

*Install the developers toolbar

*Browse to the map service of your choice (in my case I used MSN/Bing Maps)

*Turn on the satellite view and remove all labels

*Go to the developer toolbar and click images>view image source

 

 

   - What you will see here is every image on the page along with its link. This is the format you use for TP.

Can I also ask what you put in your .ini file then to reflect the change as I assume this full line relates to 1 specific tile;

No, I was not aware of a change in bing maps address!

Unfortunately the link you posted resulted in black terrain for me...

 

So, I would ask as Steve, what is the exact address we should put in the ini file..

Personally having checked some of this out, I think No Cigar is mistaken in his findings - I get the same result as you.....black tiles....when using those amendment(s).

 

My .ini file is how it always was and it seems to works absolutely fine - my service example entry for Bing maps reads as follows:

The only amendment I may consider is that it appears as though the latest map version is 1265.......but I've always been dubious as to whether that makes any difference.

Please note that the server address LINE reads as above with http:// in front of it- I can't get my post to not "hyperlink" that section of my .ini file and "hide" parts of it

I also use the same address. I am currently experimenting with mapping optios for faster tile loading..
