May 14, 201313 yr I am thinking of buying Opus as the weather engine looks so much better than anything else that I have used and I currently use the demonstration model. However,I currently have Ezdok cameras installed which are assigned to various keyboard keys. In order to now use the Opus cameras do I need to unistall Ezdok and just start again with Opus as obviously I will need to assign certain keys for this operation. I apologise in advance if the answer is obvious but I just want to get it straight in my own mind. I thank you in anticipation. Michael Michael Broom
May 14, 201313 yr I've just been down that road myself...and you may be in for a pleasant surprise. I can't say for sure whether or not you must uninstall EZ-DOK, but if you do, be sure to remember to remove all the views first, using the EZ-DOK config tool. I've heard that things can get very messy otherwise in terms of views that get left behind which must then be removed manually. Since EZ-DOK launches with FSX, there's not much point in having it consume resources if you're not actually using it. Which brings me to the pleasant surprise... I opted for Opus after EZ-DOK failed to launch properly with FSX, as it sometimes did on my system. Because I was testing some panel edits, I just flew without it, which I normally wouldn't do. While flying without EZ-DOK I noticed a definite performance boost, and I mean a significant boost .e.g. being able to fly the Carenado Caravan in Orbx PNW which was just too slow and stuttery before. More testing confirmed this, and my simming experience has improved massively since. (Israel's Farm is still a slideshow on approach, though...what is it about that place?) I can't stand the default "flying-on-rails" experience, which is where Opus comes in. I have Dynamic Head Movement enabled without Auto Head Movement and performance is fine - and I have a pretty slow system. Camera setup in EZ-DOk is more intuitive, I find, but then I'm still just getting the hang of Opus. I still miss some things about EZ-DOK, but I'm finding workarounds and the improvement in performance means there's no going back for me. Oh, and the DHM in Opus is less pronounced I find, but it does seem more natural.
May 14, 201313 yr Author Hi, Many thanks for your reply. In terms of totally removing Ezdok from my system and using the Config tool do I click on the restore button to do this. Many thanks in anticipation. Michael Michael Broom

Once you've uninstalled it, perhaps you might take a flight to see if there's a difference in performance? I'd be interested to see what happens on someone else's system.

I'll be configuring a number of aircraft over the next few weeks, so I'll send on the CDFs as soon as I have them. I think my Carenado C152 views are ready to go. I only do internal views though..is that a problem?
May 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member Thanks, all CDFs are most welcome and gratefully received. Cheryl
