And you are correct, Bob. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is with the No-CD "crack," "hack," or whatever someone wants to call it. If someone wants to pirate, they probably already know where to get it, if not, as long as a link isn't left for it, who cares?Having to have a CD in the drive for each game that you play is ridiculous. I purchased all the games that I have, but I like having the option of not having to look for this or that CD each time that I want to play them.

The fact that the thread was locked but not deleted, so that it is still available for reading, says more about implicit forum policy. Yes, discussing the crack is not permitted, but the information given was useful for legitimate simmers, and remains on view. Avsim must have to consider commercial factors when dictating forum policy and I think this is a very `transparent` way of serving both masters. And frankly, at this late stage in the products life, I can' see why MS even bothered to mention the non-existent requirement for the `new` FS9.exe. Seems pretty pointless to me.Allcott

I agree CD in the drive is problematic. I have my FS9 disk in one drive and my Jeppesen disk in the other and now I am out of drives. Hope no one else wants a CD in the drive to protect their software too!Someone mentioned activation for the next version of MSFS. That is just what I need is one more piece of activated software on my HD. Between MS and Adobe, upgrading my motherboard is more painful than a root-canal.Regards,Ron

Well, since this thread hasn't been locked I guess it's OK to discuss the NO CD patch. I think the problem is when someone provides information on where to get the patch or other software that can accomplish the same thing (and then some). I think the mods just don't want these forums being used to provide info on how to OBTAIN materials that COULD be used for piracy.David

This thread wasn't locked because I don't want to be accused (again) of any number of crimes against humanity or freedom of speech or yada yada yada.Policy is not to discuss anything about this "software" - including location of download. AVSim does not condone the use of this or any software that is used to circumvent copy protection in commercial software - no matter who makes the software or what your personal feelings are about have to put a CD in a drive. On a personal note, it certainly doesn't bother me to put a CD in for MSFS or Doom III or Tron or any of the other titles I own that require it.So now I will lock this thread too.
