How to use Goflight GF-46 Module?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am researching information about this module

http://www.pcaviator.com/store/product.php?productid=17818&cat=642&page=1

I want to pair it up with a GF-P8 module to use is for Nav/Com radio, ADF and XPdr .

I did a Google search but nothing came up.  The doc at the Goflight site contains nothing specific.  Could someone comment on whether this combination is workable?

Also,

this module:

from the description it does not seem to have a dual concentric rotary encoder

whereas the GF-46 does. Any suggestion coming from users of these module are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have three GF-166, one GF-RP48, one GF-46, one GF-T8, one GF-LGT and I used to have an GF-MCP but I traded it for an CPFlight MCP with EFIS module.

Personally I use two of the GF-166 for NAV1 and NAV2. The third I use for COM1 but I could use it for COM1/COM2 too but sometimes it causes problem when I fly on VATSIM so I prefer to have it for single use.

The GF-T8 I actually don't use for anything. The GF-RP48 is like your GF-P8 but with the rotary encoder too. I only use a couple of the buttons while I use the rotaries to change the transponder code that I have shown on the GF-46. I can also use them to change the QNH that I also show on the GF-46. I have to check if I can use the pushbuttons on the GF-RP48 to work with the GF-46 in order operate NAV and COM frequencies.

Mind you, the GF-46 can be used standalone to show and change transponder and QNH and also for AP purposes like heading, alt, vs and nav among other things.

Thanks.  So it looks like a GF-46 is more versatile than a GF-166?  Also the knobs on the GF-166 is it a dual rotary one?  The picture does not show it at all and the manual did not say anything.

The knobs on the GF-166 are dual - the outer ring is used to change the whole frequency (118) and the inner the decimal (.60).<br /><br />The GF-46 is indeed more versatile but still if I was to keep only one module, it would be the GF-166. I fly on VATSIM and always in VC so I highly value the ease with which you change com-radio frequencies. Also I have a MCP for taking care of the A/P part. The GF-166 can also deal with ADF and transponder although I don't use it for that.
