can't change Water Effects

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i have this strange problem: since my new install i'm unable to get rid off the wet (and reflecting) runways. It doesn't matter to which side i move the Water Effects slider, there is no difference. I tried all graphics sliders, no solution. Has anyone encountered this problem? Is this a known bug in FSX? I searched the forums but i couldn't find anything. I even uninstalled FEX but that didn't solve the problem. Thanks in advance.

My system: i5, dedicated ssd, radeon 6870, 4Gb ram. FSGlobal Ultimate, 737NGX

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the water setting in FSX has anything to do with water on runways.

I've seen water on runways at FSX default airports but at the time I was using AS2012 textures where you're able to choose from a couple of different reflections under a category called 'Surface Reflections' As I recall this will only work at default FSX airports (or maybe also 3rd party where default FSX runway textures are used).

@ Joost3 - My guess is that one of the files below is the one causing your wet runways so make sure the below files are the original FSX files and with some luck that might solve your problem.

runway_bump.bmp
runway_marks.dds
runway11.dds
runway12.dds
runway_detail.bmp
runway_detail02.bmp
runway11_hw.dds
runway12_hw.dds

Came to think of one thing after posting...maybe it's not a texture thing but rather an effect responsible for reflections in FSX.

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge about allt this will chime in and help you!
