June 14, 201312 yr Hi guys Just getting back into plane maker after a few months away from it. I'm building an old open cockpit biplane and it has a very unusual aileron configuration. The outer part of the ailerons are actually part of the wing tips. The problem with this is that plane maker will only allow up to 50% of the wing which sounds plenty. I think that it's more important to maintain the end wing configuration and have a little less aileron. Any thoughts out there? I had thought of maybe increasing aileron deflection a little to make up for the little area loss I will have. visually it won't really matter because eventually I'll be using an external 3d model. Regards Pete PS I don't have an engine yet so I can't really run any testing just yet, besides, I doubt anyone alive today really knows what it actually flew like .
June 16, 201312 yr I do not have any answer or even an hint for you, but I will surely follow your project :-) My only suggestion is that you use 2 aileron sets, one for the normal wing area and the second for the tip area. You could play with the aileron2 settings to get the higher effecftiveness (?) Please keep us informed !!! June 17, 201312 yr Author hi jcomm Thanks for the response. I already am using 2 aileron sets. The problem is the aileron on this aircraft encompasses the entire wing tip with planemaker only allowing use of up to 50% of it. I've resolved it by keeping the area almost the same, not ideal but I don't see any other way. Regards
