June 15, 201312 yr In a disaster, an Internet Connection is becoming more and more of a priority these days compared to a phone connection. with the Internet I could get an email out much faster to anyone concerned about me compared to having to have to call them. All I need is an Internet connection and all my email addresses are there and ready. I could also Skype and send or speak to anyone over Skype as well If I had to depend on a phone connection that wouldn't work any ways because I can't remember anyone's phone number, they are all saved on my cell phone. I was in both EQ's and even though I was able to use my laptop on battery, ( as power was cut) I had no internet to find out the latest news update, and e mail family and friends. I found out that being amongst it all in a natural disaster, how much I missed been able to communicate when mother nature spits the dummy, like she did in Christcurch.
