Recently purchased this great product. Have read many concerns re loud engine sound in cockpit but my problem is very quiet external sounds. Cockpit engine sound loud but spot plane sound unrealistically quiet. Any advise please?

Hmm, it's usually deafening both inside and out! Start with the basics, what are your FSX volume settings for engine sounds? And are your speakers set up correct in Windows?

Thanks. I'm grateful for your help. It seems that I've probably got my internal cockpit sound too low. Once flew a C152 without headphones. Deafening! J41 may therefore be extremely realistic but perhaps a little too much so for a sim? Still a fantastic product though.

I used Wavepad's batch process to lower all the internal engine sounds, because the TPE331's were making my ears bleed. I'd send them to you but they're quite large.

For external sounds, confirm you don't have your soundcard in windows to be on 5.1 surround (assuming you only have stero speakers) because if that is the case, the engine sounds will come from various speaker positions including ones that aren't there.

I often turn down my entire FSX sounds when flying the JS41 (simulated earmuffs lol).

It is deftinatley one of my favourite planes to fly.

Thanks again for your help. Enjoyed the video. Good to know that there are guys like you out there.

As an A&P mechanic who held a run/taxi certification on the JS 41 for 14 years, I can confirm that the sim very closely approximates what the real aircraft cockpit sounds like. The TPE331-14's scream is just as obnoxious in the real aircraft as it is in the sim LOL!
