June 17, 201312 yr Today I was in the MJC DH8D, and I was coming into the FlyTampa Scenery Buffalo/Niagara Intl on the RW32 visual approach. I didn't want to use ILS because the visibility was good. When Buffalo Approach cleared me to Buffalo Tower, I began my -700 FPM descent on approach for RW32. The problem was, the PAPI lights were very dark, in fact, impossible to see until at about 1000 ft. This bothers me because I came in slightly low, but I still landed well. It's the same deal at Sint Maarten. PAPI lights are way too dark in the daytime, very hard to see when coming in with the KLM MD-11 or the AA B738. June 17, 201312 yr In the FlyTampa forums there was a bgl file you could add to brighten the St Maarten PAPI lights. Maybe they have one for Buffalo too. It comes with a warning that your AI might become invisible if you have enabled aircraft ground shadows. Depends on whether your AI is FS9 or FSX. :( Barry Friedman
