ActiveSky2004 Update

Featured Replies

Just installed the update and took a test flight. It may have been the most realistic looking sim flight I've ever taken. ActiveSky '04 update provided one of the most incredable experiences for me which left me compelled to comment. The weather detail is one thing. What the clouds and visibility do is another. This is an excellent program for anyone wanting to practice IFR flying. My flight was in the Cincinnati area and the weather here today was crappy with low visibility. At about 1000ft AGL, I lost all reference to the ground except the very brief limited veiws while banking. I commend the ActiveSky team and say thank you very much for this great product!Michael Lehkamp

Well said Michael. I felt the same way after installing the latest update. Heavy overcast here in San Antonio, Texas and AS2004.5 showed exactly that. It just felt so visually real. Can't explain it any better than that.I have been with the program from the beginning and this is the best yet. I also highly recommend this program to anyone wanting life-like weather when flying in FS9.Regards,

I'm an old convert from FS_Metro... I preferred FS_Metro over AS2002 back when I was flying using FS2k2. AS2004.5 really shows how far these guys have come. I haven't seen an update this impressive in quite some time. The Bang for Buck has really went a long way here. Thanks Active Sky team for working miracles on this program. Everyone needs to see what these guys have done, it's truly amazing...

I'm running FsMeteo now and have been a great supporter of it for years. Does active sky now solve the 'no overcast' problem ? ie when flying at altitude you can always see the ground ? If it does then I'll buy it today !Cheers

What cloud seeting do ou need to use to get the most out of this? Does simple coulds work or do ou need 3-d clouds to really get the benefits of this?

Guys, yes AS2004.5 solves the overcast issue. You'll need FSW's clouds update as well though for everything to work and perform as it should... See my other thread on this (AS2004.5)...Kilstorm once you have both AS2004.5 and FSW's clouds, you won't need to use 'simple clouds' anymore (that's of course if your running a 2.1gig processor and/or above machine :-roll )...

Does AS2004 have any impact on FPS? And can you post a pic of the overcast conditions from above and inside?

Michaeli also installed the patch, and everything looked different.weather just looked fantastic.don't know what the guys have done.whatever it is activesky2004 looks brilliant.the question about framerates.activesky2004 itself doesn't reduce fps.and there are ways to limit the cloudlayers,so you don't get too many.the Chris Willis cloudsets also are a must have.available on his website best wishes steve
