AOTD for 6/27/13 - Iditarod 14 N. Galena

Featured Replies

This one should be pretty easy and should also be a very scenic flight, You might see some of the things that were brought up last week when we looked for Ruby.

If you see something interesting, share it with your fellow pilots.

Enjoy.

Thank you.

Rick

Rick mentions the scenic aspects of this flight. Perhaps he means that the river is silted up for a small length, which is a strange sight indeed!

Nothing like an open biplane flight, face in the wind.

Yep, Luis. That spot in the Yukon was what I was referring to. It's almost like the river goes underground for a bit and then comes back up in full force.  If you look closely, you can see the banks outlined in the normal gravel color. And when you finally clear this land, it crosses the river in a perfectly straight line, much like it was cut with a knife.

And finally on the ground at Pitka.

Thank you.
