Any luck with the install last night.. If you want I could contact you later this evening and try to work the problem with you. Let me know if that would help.

Hi guy's, a short update. (and don't you dare to laugh)  :P

I almost  crossed the finish last night (very late) and I wanted to post my progression. After writing more than a half page of a paper format A4, and believe me writing in English goes seriously slower than in Dutch (my native thong). Last night I wanted to add some images at the bottom of my text to make it more clear. In contrast to my first post it didn't work. After a couple of attempts I got a bit angry (shame on me) and distracted I did something wrong (don't know what),  and....oops, all the text gone, and I...., more p.ss.d.  I called it a day and went to bed.

Tonight I did the whole thing over..........everything, more or less. To make a long story short: after writing for almost one hour I wanted to close a tab, but instead of clicking on the tab, I clicked the X in the top right corner and......oops once again, I closed the website accidentally and .....have a guess.... .

So here's what I'm gonna do tomorrow: I'm gonne write the text in "Word"...SAVE IT from time to time and later copy and paste it here  !!! No more writing tonight !

So sorry folks, no more news from the Western Front tonight, but thanks for the concern  and the interest in my posts.

See you all tomorrow, Eddy

PS: John, do you live in  Northern Ireland or in the Republic (I'm guessing the Republic) May be this is personal, so if you don't want to answer, I understand.

optimizes

Hi,

Download MATROX SGU and run...It optimizes FSX...........that should fix your problem........Regards Viper.....

Hi everybody,

unless somebody tells me, in simple language please!, how to add some screenshots with my text to clarify what I'm seeing on my monitors and to help to solve the problem,I quit. I'm so tired of all this.Hours on end I'm struggeling to get this right, so disapointing. I don't remember how I added my photo's the first time, and now I'm searching all over the forum to find a simple "how to" but I find no strait and simple answer. I found something about opening an account on Photobucket, or something like that, but I didn't so the first time and I don't want do it this time. Sorry to all you guys who want to help me but I'm getting so confused (and mad at myself) , it's not healty any more. I think the forum  is fantastic for those who are really into all this, and are English spoken, but for me (until now) it isn't working. I know my English is ok, but do you know how long it takes to look everything up so I don't make to much mistakes on spelling? Hey, sorry guys, I know I sound desperate and disillusioned, but that's how I feel. I'm gonna let it rest for some days and hope to start with a new and better spirit afterwards.

By the way Brain, Downloading SGU didn't help either. I optimized FSX Accelaration (all green) but to no use. Also the automatic chosen resolution was to low. The optimum resolution, as proposed by other members must be 5760 x 1080. This resolution wasn't even possible in the SGU choices. But thanks anyway.

Thanks again to everubody who wanted to help. Keep up the good work people.

Regards, Eddy

Hi Eddie,

Have you considered a system restore, as you can't get into windows normally, try this.

Start windows in 'safe mode with command prompt', by tapping F8 key when starting.
If asked, select administrator account.

When the black cmd window opens, type in rstrui.exe. and then press enter.

This should open your system restore window, and from here you can turn back to an earlier time before the mess started.

You could also run the system file checker tool from the cmd window,

Type in sfc /scannow ( note space after sfc ) and press enter,  this will scan your operating system files and replace any corrupted ones with original windows files.  takes a little time and may ask for the windows install disk,  If you don't have it, just make a note of the file it wants to replace, and continue.

You may also want to check that it's not some Malware causing the issue, search for and download Malwarebytes, it's free, but I'm not sure if it will install in safe mode. If it does, then run full system scan in safe mode.

Hello followers, grumpy is back (thanks John, I have the photo sollution tattooed on my arm so I won't  forget it in the future)

Sorry for the grizzle last night folks, I guess it just wasn't my day.  :( I really appreciate your efforts for trying to help me.

Where were we? The day before yesterday, after a lot of whining en cursing, I finally got my desktop spread across my 3 monitors. Icons and taskbar were also back on screen.

After that I downloaded the latest firmware and the PowerDesk software. So far so good. After that, I got as far as the next image. I opened FSX but the only screen was the VC of my Flight1 Cessna 172R. Left and right monitor still showing part of my desktop. I tryed some setting, messed things up and I had to start all over again. Afterwards, and after finally reading almost all the PowerDesk help files, I still couldn't make it work the way I wanted to. I wasn't able to get a wider view out of the L & R cockpit windows.

The only thing I could do was placing my cursor on the left and right top corner of the window of the middle monitor and stretch my VC view to the left and right edges of my outer monitors.

But that's not how it supposed to be as far as I know. As seen in the 2 next images you can see that the scennery is stretched and deformed. I checked a few video's on Youtube to be sure that this was not the we it supposed to be. I'm sorry that I, due to my limited knowledge of computers and their special terminology, can't figure it out by myself.  I'm getting old(er). You'll see that on the image on the left monitor there is also missing a part of the cabine/fuselage. I'm sure it all comes down to settings, just can't figure it out. So once again, thanks in advance for those who will try to solve these problems.

I'm close, very close, but I need you're help to take the final hurdle.

Thanks again,

The flying Grumpy

Hi Eddie,

Go into FSX options >Display settings, make sure you select the new wide resolution you chose when setting it up in Matrox.

ie, something like 5760 x 1080 x 32

have a quick look in Device manager,  expand monitors, it should read Matrox TH2GO etc. not Generic plug and play.

This was an early problem that Matrox claimed to have fixed,  but worth checking.

Nearly there,

Ron.

Well done Eddy, very nearly there..

Just to confirm that you have 5760 x 1080 resolution right click anywhere on your desktop and click on Screen Resolution. It should show Matrox Triple Head and 5760 x 1080 as the setting..

In Flight Sim,

try using the + and - buttons to change the Zoom in the cockpit. You can set up your yoke to pan around, move eyepoint up, down, left and right. That's how I use the Saitek yoke in VC.

All the best, John

Ignore the Resolution in the attached pic in previous post as it is from another computer. where it says 1280 x 1024 (recommended) is where you should see 5760 x 1080. If it is something else click on the little down arrow and see is it is selectable to 5760 x 1080.

Hi Eddy,

Not sure if you are an avid simmer or not. If you are ignore all below..

Just a personal thought here but if I were you I would consider using FS9 (FS2004) instead of FSX. I think its a better sim to be honest. With the following addons its fab and runs very well and stable.

Payware:

Ground Environment Pro

Real Environment Extreme for FS2004

Ultimate Terrain Europe / US / Canada/Alaska

Any Aerosoft Airports

Any UK2000 Extreme Airports

FSCaptain for Pilot Career Simulation

iFly 737NG for FS2004 (My favourite)

FS2Crew for iFly 737 (Real procedures /checklists / other crew etc)

FSBuild for flight planning

Also lots of good freeware in the Avsim library

For Freeware AI Aircraft http://www.world-of-ai.com/

Hello everyone,

first reply is to Ron: I checked the resolution = Ok, and I also checked the device mamanger = also Ok, device works correct, everything spic & span. Thanks for tip though.

Now it's John's turn: yes John, I am indeed a'n avid simmer. I fly almost every day (except now of course). I'm taking it very serious, not just fly around. Beside the usual simming I'm now studying real world navigation. "The aviators guide to navigation" a book by Donald J. Clausing. In everything Ido I try to be as good as possible. (that's why I was so angry at myself and disapointed a few days ago, among others). I joined a sim-club a few weeks ago but the meetings are only one sundag a month and the first time I went I did not have the TH2Go at that time. Next meeting is on the 14th of June. I have to drive ± 160 km to and fro to attend these meetings. I don't think I would do this if I wasn't an avid simmer. http://www.27sqn.be  Since a couple of weeks ago the site is also in English (before only in Dutch which is my native language). Take a look !

For now I'm going to stick to FSX otherwise it possibly becomes even more complicated.

Back to business.

Even before I read your last post I took a few more pictures os some settings today.

What I think looks weird in the image of the Display Settings bellow is that it is showing my graphic card (GTX 560). Is this the way it should be, or has the TH2Go has to pop up here???

The resolution show's ok though.

The screen resolution is also Ok.

The PowerDesk settings I'm no sure of, but I think it's Ok

Right collum in more detail

Something strange happend (in my opinion) here. At first "monitors used" showed  "1". I then changed it to "3" (see the red arrow)  and had to restart te computer. After re-starting I only got 1 screen lit-up (Left) and the icons and the dialog box for the GMX settings (this box) filled the whole screen. It was like starting up in save mode ! I changed it back to "1" la

OOPS !!!

I think I did a mistake (hit a wrong key) and I think the reply is already posted before it is finished. "Don't panic Mr. Manwairing, don't panic" !

Let's hope some of you can detect the possible error(s). Hopefully awaiting your replies

best regards (once again)

Eddy

Hi Eddy,

All that looks good to me.. nice job.. I don't use FSX so I cant advise on the CFG settings. One thing I had to do was to replace the halo.bmp file as the runway and approach lights were too big. You can find a replacement I'm sure if you have the same issue in FSX.

I am tempted to buy a track IR device and a proper MCP but it will have to wait a while.

Enjoy your new triple screen..

Hi John,

if all the settings are right why is the problem then still the same ? So, still not much enjoying yet. Hey, don't lie awake over it ^_^. From tomorrow I'll be gone for the weekend, and after returning on tuesday I can start anew with a clear head (hopefully), and what's more, it's only a few days away from the next club meeting and maybe there are some guy's with TH2Go experience who can help.

My next purchase will be a 15,6" laptop for the same things you use it for. The track IR and the 3 Saitek panels are also on my wishlist. I don't want to be a copycat though, those items are on my list for some time. Just have to find the money, but hey, that's a detail  :P

Have a nice weekend everybody,

Happy landings,

Eddy

PS: what's an MCP ? The closest I get in Wikipedia is an Mathematical Co-Processor.

Hi Eddy, I think I may have found a resolution for you on the Matrox website.. there is a tweak to the FSX.cfg that sorts out the field of view issue which I think is your problem..

Below are the instructions on how to do it using the Matrox SGU (Surround Gaming Utility) or manually by editing the FSX.CFG File..

Hope that works..

PS: MCP is Mode Control Panel : See Attached Image

If you have an iPad I suggest you check out the following website that allow you to have a moving map display, full radio stack and autopilot displayed on the iPad: https://www.remoteflight.net/remote-flight-map-hd

Very cheap as well. I sometimes use them to track my flight while I watch some TV and come up for the descent, app and landing.

For the best TripleHead2Go experience in Flight Simulator X: Acceleration, a small Flight Simulator configuration file tweak is necessary. This tweak will allow the field of view to properly adjust to your desired TripleHead2Go resolution.

To automatically configure Flight Simulator X: Acceleration for Surround Gaming with TripleHead2Go (recommended):

Matrox's Surround Gaming Utility (which is part of the TripleHead
2Go
software bundle) can automatically configure
Flight Simulator X: Acceleration
for use with TripleHead
2Go.
To download the latest version of the Matrox SGU, please visit:

To manually configure Flight Simulator X: Acceleration for Surround Gaming with TripleHead2Go (for advanced users):

  1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.
  2. In the text box that appears, type: %appdata%\Microsoft\FSX
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the directory that opens, double-click the fsx.cfg file, and open it using Notepad (or another text editor).
  5. Within fsx.cfg, in the [Display] section, locate the "WideViewAspect" parameter. (You can use the "Find" function in Notepad to make this easier).
  6. The default setting is "WideViewAspect=False." Change the line to read "WideViewAspect=True."
  7. Save your changes, and exit Notepad.

You can now launch Flight Simulator X: Acceleration as usual, and enjoy Surround Gaming with TripleHead2Go!
