i5-750 to i7-4770k - worth it?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gone from a i5-750 to i7-4770k or a similar jump in generations? My i5-750 is oc'd to 4.0ghz and I can't go any higher. I'm considering upgrading with this route plus going from a GTX 570 to a 770 but I'm really torn as to whether it's worth it or not. I also play other games so it's really tempting. Thoughts?

Haswell @ 4.5GHz is about a 50% faster than Nehalem @ 4GHz. You can also run faster memory for an extra 5 - 10% boost.

I'd go with an I5 4670K, and if you can sell your current CPU / mobo, I'd say it's definitely worth it.

I recently upgraded from a i7 860 @ 3.9 to a 4770k @ 4.5. Metropolitan areas that were once stutter fests are now glass; weather performance has improved as well though not as dramatically. Worth it? Yes!

How can you sell a used MOBO/CPU...?  I would never buy such used components...
