July 23, 201312 yr Have you gotten clearer textures before? This actually looks pretty normal for FS9, If you're using Nvidia some of their latest drivers have been causing some headaches. My screens are the darker textures with the canadian aircraft lol that second screen with the brighter textures belong to @Jscorna i only repost it cause i thought i saw the same issue on his just not that noticeable lol Hmmm. Maybe it isn't under Display. (I'm not at my FS computer right now, so I can't check...). It is somewhere in your cfg, though, and hopefully it is set to 1. If not, FS is not using lower LOD models everywhere in sim - displaying every poly in every model. As it struggles (and fails) to hit your framerate lock of 49 fps, it is forced to reduce mipmap and terrain detail radius to try to hit that number. You Might get better clarity or more consistant textures with auto_lod=1. Of course, if it already =1, then I'm at a loss... If there are random typos, know that I am posting from my phone... Just found it its under Graphics and mines is set to 0 i will set it to 1 lol not a problem with the typos haha I appreciate the advice lol
July 23, 201312 yr High detailed textures are not shown out forever. They load as you get closer. You see them in both your and my shots because: 1) the plane is quite high and 2) you are using no weather with unlimited visibility. At this point everything is normal and do not spend anymore time with this. Edit: auto_lod has nothing to do with this.

Sorry if im a bit confused im not an expert lol
July 23, 201312 yr Yes, normal. Have you ever seen the posters that post a picture of their water and it looks like a big cross? Well, what we are seeing is the same thing, but on land: a high flight, unlimited visibility, and FS which doesn't draw detailed textures out to the horizon.
July 23, 201312 yr Jskorna is right, auto_lod is not typically associated with this issue. BUT, it DOES contribute significantly to terrain texture detail when you are in the vicinity of a detailed airport scenery - especially when said airport scenery was not designed with mipmapped textures! I suggested that tweak because I have substantial personal experience with that with verifiable and repeatable results.

Thanks for all of your replies, I did set the Auto_LOD to 1 thanks for the suggestion, As far as the problem in hand Jskorna from your reply i guess its normal and i thank you for your help at least now i know its not a big deal lol at 30.000ft is normal B) Don't have to reinstall my sim

Try Ctrl+S when you see those odd textures, then zoom out a good distance. The different levels of detail are obvious as concentric rings around your ground zero. I believe there's a fixed, coded maximum limit to the distance at which detailed textures are drawn. The 'water' appears in unexpected places, like the Sahara desert. I think it's caused by very low elevation terrain. I suppose the LOD algorithm interprets something like a few feet of elevation as zero and paints it as ocean. As Jim suggests, you will have to adjust visibility to soften or obscure the effect. Regards, D
July 23, 201312 yr I wish the blurry cross had've been a blurry circle. Would be less noticeable then the corners of the cross. I guess that has been coded in somehow. Remember the shape of the texture tiles.
