Moe's Gimp My Ride Program

I have used FSX and P3D until recently. Those sims allow simulated emergencies. Now I use Aerofly FS and MS Flight. These sims do not allow emergencies. So this is what I now do. If I hear a siren from a police car, ambulance, or fire truck. I simulate an engine emergency. I upon hearing the siren immediately throttle back to under 2000 rpm. Then when I no longer hear the siren I pull off the choke and kill the engine (just idle in Aerofly FS) This is the way I do it because most engine failures have a brief power reduction before total failure ie. cracked cylinders, iced up carb etc. Further to this if the siren should be heard from the TV in the living room. I have a GPS failure and must close GMap and in the Carbon Cub or Icon shut off the GPS. Last night from Unalaklete to Nome I had a GPS failure but lucky for me Nome was equipped with a VOR.

Feel free to pitch any other ideas guys.

I like to start a job with low fuel. Hit the "N" button and when you materialize near the destination you will hear kinds of dire warnings from the co-pilot. He/she is not very happy with you. Establish best glide speed and see if you can reach the destination airport or an alternate. With the Cub and the Maule it will be very difficult to stretch the glide to the primary. If you are lucky you can get into alternate that has fuel. The C-46 on the other hand will give you enough altitude to make the runway if you can manage the energy properly. Have fun.

Moe, I also use Aerofly FS and Flight mostly. They (Aerofly FS) will have a booth at Air Venture again this year. I will be there August 2nd and see what I can find out about their new and improved future update.
