October 29, 200421 yr Hi I've noticed this for some time now and just can't seem to fix it. It appears that fs2004 seems to ignore my atc parking codes and randomly places airlines where it likes.I have a good knowledge and appreciation of controlling ai and i'm particularly careful to ensure all my ai aircraft are assigned the correct atc parking codes. However, all attempts to group airlines together are just ignored - i even find cargo aircraft waiting at gates even though i know for a fact that i've assigned their gate type to cargo and passenger types waiting on the cargo ramp. Not a show stopper i know, but still frustrating. Any help or suggestions much appreciated.RegardsGary
October 29, 200421 yr what about gate/aircraft radii? - i think radius supercedes airline code in terms of parking. I know PAI for instance uses some way out radius figures for their cargo aircraft/gates to prevent cargo planes from parking at passenger terminal gates - they just can't 'fit' - works well for me.Unfortunately when all coded and right-sized gates are full i do see passenger a/c at the cargo terminals, but what the heck - I'm just passing on my way in/out...regards,Mark Regards, Mark
October 30, 200421 yr Heres my best advice since I just went thru this. First off the aircraft utility in UT works great at assigning codes and types to a/c. Also within the AFCAD you can assign aircraft types and codes under the tools with the aircraft editor. Now the more important stuff once you've selected types and codes. Make sure when you create or modify a parking spot that you class it as a gate or parking in the AFCAD properties. I had a problem with ATC instructing me to a gate that I didnt want instead of a gate that I did that was open. The reason being was the parking spot I wanted to go to was labeled as parking instead of a gate. So when I would request parking to the gate it wouldnt give me the spot I wanted. So in short on this point you can select GA ramp small or Gate small as the type and size but check the identification to select gate or parking or other. The next big thing to do is once you have finished with all the parking spots go to the AFCAD lists tab at the top and select parking. How they appear from top down in this list is the priority list. If you want to fill up spots in a certain order or if you are being instructed to a spot that you dont want, then prioritize the spots. Just because you have gate 1 close to the terminal then gate two doesnt mean atc will direct a plane to gate one if in the master parking list gate two is higher on the list then gate one.Following all this you should have no more problems.
October 31, 200421 yr Author Here are the radius values we use at PAI. I think most other people are using these as well. Also, for the aircraft you are actually flying, parking codes are ignored. They only affect AI aircraft.http://afcad.projectai.com/documents/FS2004Parkingv6.htmlMatt
