November 1, 200421 yr I have just completed uploading my first ever Flight Simulator Scenery Project. The file is called KHSV_New.zip, and enhances the default scenery at Huntsville International Airport in Huntsville AL.Thanks to Lee Swordy, Seev Kahn, Isreal Roth, and Shehryar, for the tools and objects to make this possible without my having to have detailed knowledge of scenery design.I only hope this is one of the many enhancements that shall soon be available for download by other authors due to the availability of such tools as:AFCAD V 2.21 (afcad221.zip)Rwy 12 Scenery Object Placer (Rwy12_v1.zip)Jetways Objects for Rwy 12. (jw_rwy12.zip)Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
November 1, 200421 yr Version 1.1 has been uploaded awaiting file manager approval and posting. Version 1.1 adds apron lighting, lines, and parking lines.
November 1, 200421 yr Congratulations, Will. Don't stop now - keep them coming!Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
November 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi, Excellent Will!ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
November 1, 200421 yr Will:Thanks for KHSV. Nice job! Will look forward to future creations from you.Wilson
November 2, 200421 yr Congrats! Nice job!Hopefully you did not use any Fedex Trucks from Object Placer as their author changed his mind and does not allow to use them anymore. My KBUF was removed from Avsim for that reason. So all Object Placer users DO NOT USE FEDEX TRUCKS by Mr Kevin Wynn as he has a problem with that!
November 2, 200421 yr That is a shame, since the whole philosophical idea around using the Rwy 12 object placer tool is to open the door to a lot of people to create more scenery for folks. There should almost be a requirement that if you create a scenery library for Rwy 12, you agree for those objects to be used in freeware creations to be shared. What's the point of having this great tool, if all the contributors to the "library" are going to have issues with their objects being redistributed non-commercially. Might as well go back to Lago's FSSE if that's the case. At least Lago allows distribution of creations made with their product. Not slamming any individuals, but I truly think if you create an object library for this tool, you should expect it to be used. What if Lee Swordy had created AFCAD and then not allowed the AFCAD files to be shared. I mean, what's the point.I am currently looking to make KHSV even better (as it is my local airport, so I have the most knowledge of it, and it's small enough that it gets overlooked by the big boys). I'm going to try and position the parking to hopefully allow all 10 spots at the terminal. If I can reposition the jetways at an angle, I may be able to get it. But then in real life, only the smaller CRJ's and Embrarer's park at an angle, whereas the 737 parks straight in.Also I plan to look at terraserver at the space and rocket center and try to add a little more "space hardware" around the grounds and possibly pick a different "building" to be the museum. Also I'm looking at adding the VonBraun Center and other buildings downtown.Glad you are enjoying it. I had fun making it yesterday (much to the chagrin of my wife).
November 2, 200421 yr Thanks to those who already downloaded the file. Version 1.2 has been uploaded this evening and should be available later today.Version 1.2 adds the taxiway markings that should have been included in version 1.1 (stupid me didn't update the archive correctly)Version 1.2 also adds two additional gates, bringing the total to reflect the actual number of gates at KHSV (10). AFCAD assignments have been adjusted to reflect accurate parking information IAW KHSV official website with the following exception: Gate 3 in real life is occupied by Independence Air, and has no parking code in my version of AFCAD. If you know this code, you can easily add it in if you have Independence Air AI. Otherwise Gate 3 has been classified as a generic gate and will be used by any airline if the current gates are full. Thanks again for all your support. Next on the list after a couple of days off, is upgrading the Space and Rocket Center, and adding VonBraun Center to downtown Huntsville. Also suggestions are welcome for those of you familiar with the Huntsville area and it's distinctive landmarks.
November 2, 200421 yr As you say guys, the whole idea behind Rwy12 Object Placer is to create a platform, where our sim community can share scenery macros in a simple, easy and above all, free to all, way. Now, to Kevin's trucks. First; let me say they are real nice objects and should be in the library. Second; on oct. 9th, two weeks before we uploaded Rwy12, I asked Kevin's permission to use his trucks, telling him that he will get full credit for his work (and that was done in the download documents and is also shows in the category list of the program). I even offered him to be one of the beta testers. He agreed by e-mail, quate; From: Kevin Wynn To: Seev Kahn Sent: Sunday, October 10, 2004 6:10 AMSubject: Re: Rwy12 objetc placer programSeev.....would love to help but am in the middle of moving and have to go out of town for work...do whatever with the fedex trucks..you have my permission. Good luck. Therefore I can't understand what happened with the new scenery and why is Kevin so angry. Hope it is only a misunderstanding.Meanwhile, please don't use Kevin's Fed-Ex trucks in sceneries you upload with Rwy12 Object PlacerSeev Kahn
November 2, 200421 yr Thanks for the update, I really do hope it is a big misunderstanding, as I have been able to do things with this program that I couldn't dream of doing outside of purchasing Lago's FSSE, and then, other users have to have FSSE as well.Do you know any similar problems with the Jetways library? My scenery does not use any vehicles, and only uses the default libraries and the jetways to enhance the terminal. They look great, and I hope there are no issues with it. 10 realistic gates at KHSV is something I've wished I had ever since I moved here and started flying around the area. Thanks to AFCAD and your program, now I have them, and hopefully others can enjoy them as well.
November 2, 200421 yr Hi Will, No,there are no problems with S. Ansari's Jetways, which are an important contribution to the library. The addon library was published under his name, together with Rwy12 team, after Rwy12 was already out and running.I would suggest one thing to all people who upload sceneries done with Rwy12. Please give credit to all involved. This includes the creators of each library that you use (and eventually there will be many). It is easy to know who made what. When you open the program in a certain category you will see who made the objects of that category (for example when you open the Fd-Ex libarary you will see; "Fed Ex Trucks - K. Wynn", or when you open the jetways you will see; "Jetways - S. Ansari").People worked hard on their creations (believe me I know) and they are entitled to some credit and thanks fo their efforts. It is easy to do, just name them in your txt file that comes together with the upload or even in the DIZ file or in this forum.Have fun guys,It's only a hobbySeev Kahn
November 2, 200421 yr Yes. That is a great idea. And I think if you read in my readme, you will see I have done just that. After all. I think it is only fair to give credit where credit is due.
