Importing flight plans

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm really excited at the prospect of flying the 777 especially using the time compression feature.

Does the FMC allow import of native FSX flight plans or plans produced by other programs like Ideal flight which I use a lot?

Thanks to all the beta testers who have posted here.

Jay

I'm not sure about native flightsplans, but does ideal flight work with the ngx? I'm pretty sure what works with the ngx will work with the 777.

The 777, along with PMDG products use .rte flightplan files. I just had a quick look at the Ideal Flight website and can't find anything about an option to export to the .rte option.

What I recommend you to do is get the flightplan that Ideal Flight generates, and chuck it into Simroutes. Once you generate it through simroutes you will have an option to download the flightplan in .rte format. You will then be able to enter the name of the file (i.e. YSSYKLAX.rte) into the FMC. This is done by entering YSSYKLAX (minus the .rte) into the CO RTE section of the RTE1 page.

But as Kaasim said, if the programs you use are generating files/flightplans that work with the NGX, it is highly likely that these flightplans can be shared across to the NGX.

I am fairly sure that the forthcoming PFPX will provide flight plans in .rte format, usable by all PMDG products.

Yeah, PFPX + T7 is pretty much a match made in heaven.

Hi James!

Yes, those plus FS2Crew B777, FS2Crew Emergency B777, FS2Crew RAAS, and the new VATSIM pilot client and I shall be one happy guy!
