FSX REX install problems

Featured Replies

A little off topic, but I have tried else including the Sim Market Customer Help and Real Environment forums.

First, I am convinced that this is not a SIm Market problem.

Second, I have had good success with Real Environment in the past During my FS2004 days.   I am not making a negative statement about them or their products.

Third,  I have been trying to get "validated" on the Real Environment forum which is more difficult than installing their products. ( did what they asked, but got nothing back)4311

SO, I purchased REX with OD from Sim Market. .  I downloaded the package and ran the install executable. I get a CAB13.cab file is corrupt error.  So I download again.  Same problem. So I download at my brother's and decompress there to make sure connection and decompress are not the problem, I bring the files home and get the same problem. So I format my flight sim machine and with a clean build, (no antivirus or firewall, I download again and get the same problem.

Sim Market states that thousands of people have downloaded with no issue. I believe them.

I have seen postings on sites of people having this problem installing REX (CAB13.cab and CAB16.cab being corrupt), but I have not see a resolution. Anyone have any ideas or know about this problem?

I have been using Real Environment since their initial offering, but I am about to purchase Active Sky.  I have used that in the past and their customer support was fast.  (and the sky looked great.)  Still I would like to use what I have paid for with REX.

I have spent a week getting my flight sim rig going again, and I just want to make a flight from Gatwick to Innsbruck this weekend. Help if you can.

DM

Hm, won't be much help but I also had problems with the OD download (REX itself  was fine) and after various tries and asking about it on the REX forum they send me a DVD free of charge with the OD installer... apparently something goes wrong with it more often. Never had problems like that before or ever since. Anyway, REX gave me great support.

So... your main problem right now is that you can't access the REX forum... because once you get there, you should get good support. Hopefully someone from REX will notice this topic and respond: wouldn't be uncommon.

First if  you just validated your purchase  today it will take   a day or  so to validate  you so just be patient

try thse links  may help you in the mean time till you get validated( iam sure if you use 7zip  to unzipped  the exe it will work hopefully  since  the normal zip you have installed  usually  fails since of  the large files  that need unzipping)

The files Unzip correctly, They do not install correctly.  I am using 7Zip.

I have not been validated in the Real Environment forums, so I can not view the links you posted.

In the thousands of dollars I have spent flight simming over the last three decades, I have never had so much trouble trying to install a third party product. I will wait patiently for access to the support forums.

Hi DM,

First, I'm sorry for any troubles you're experiencing. I understand the frustrations when things like this happen, I'm a consumer as well! On our support forum a post might fall under the cracks during a busy time, however, our team does its best to answer each post. If you've posted for verification here, http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15044-support-forum-verification/ you were answered, and probably missed either the follow up or the private mail if there was a problem with your order number.

Please advise of your forum name at REX and I will look into it for you.

We simply do not offer support to anyone that we can't verify as a legit user of our product. I'm sure you understand why.

I did post to the verification Thread, but received no reply back.  I attributed that to turn around time, as mentioned above.  I realize that people do not sit on the forum 24/7.

My forum name there is dlm9000 as well.  My validation was posted at 9:58 AM EST today.  I understand about your choices for support validation.  I apologize if I seem a little terse, I have been trying to get this to work for almost 2 weeks. I look forward to beautiful skies.
