August 10, 201312 yr I'm having awful trouble trying to understand how it works (VNAV). I can use LNAV, typing in the waypoints etc. Though I am having trouble linking in SID's and STAR's to the waypoints. How do you calculate what airspeed or altitude you need. Can you program in a step clinb? How do you set it up in the first place? August 10, 201312 yr The altitude required at each waypoint in a SID/STAR is located in each individual SID or STAR. So, the first thing you need to do is locate and download the SID or the STAR you want to use for takeoff/landing. It will give you the rest of the details. Speed in the USA below 10K is 250. You will need to maintain enough speed to fly. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
